Multiplication tables

My p3 gal was very weak, did ask her to recite but she didn’t heed the advice.
She was relying on finger calculations to get the answer but the answers are wrong. Any way to help her? She’s stubborn -
i think the only way is to recite…
else you might want to sit with her, get some beads or ice cream sticks to show and explain how mulitiplication works. -
Maybe can see how her school teacher can help her? My girl is also in P3 this year. If I am not wrong, I remember that one of her homework was to memorize some times table.
I asked dd to remember the main ones to start with. Sorry I am not sure how best to word it, but for example if it is a 7 times table, I will tell her that she die die also must remember that 7 x 5 = 35 and 7 x 7 = 49. The rest she can work forward or work backwards from there. Same with eg. 8 times table. Remember that 8 x 5 = 40 and 8 x 8 = 64. 9 x 5 = 45 and 9 x 9 = 81. Take all these as ''benchmarks''.
But ya .. the best is if she can memorize from everything. But to some kids, this is a challenge. -

My gal also memorize via recite. The hard way also ask them to recite on group everyday as well as writing down. Just go through with them start from 2 follow by 3 etc. For 5, I will tell the child that it is either have 5 or 0 in the last digit. It is quite challenge but child because they are resistant. So initially I let her do a alternate day first. Then follow by writing. It might sound a bit harsh... -

Recitation is NOT the only way but it will varies across every kids and we also learn in the way to teach them how to identify the multiplication similarities.

You can search Youtube for multiplication videos.
There are visual aids along with catchy tunes.
I'm teaching my 5yo using Youtube.

Maybe, to some of us would much prefer recite, but my brother would prefer lattice method!
