Hanahana,sugarpie2honey,
Thank you for sharing!
HGS is better in PSLE results.. I still have one year to consider which school is better for my dd.
Thank you!
Thanks for all the hard data you shared comparing PSLE results for CHIJ, HGS, and NAPS. So far, we have left my P3 girl at HGS. My son is in P1 at NAPS and is very happy. We have a daughter who will be in P1 in 2014 and a son who will be in P1 in 2015. Pretty much resolved to let the preschoolers go to NAPS as it makes things easier logistically. However, for our P3 daughter at HGS, we are still sometimes wondering if we should take the plunge to NAPS and be under the same roof. Then a friend recently asked why we didn't consider CHIJ Katong, closer to NAPS than HAIG; however, I came back to the data again and it still points to HGS being the best choice and not making good sense to transfer her...
With this in mind, I started to search for such data as the percentage of students achieving agg of 250 and above on the PSLE.
So far, I found:
year CHIJ / NAPS
2011 11.45% / 7.33%
2010 9.26% / 7.59%
2009 5.80% / 6.20%
Searching for the same data for HGS. Anyone happen to know the percentage of HGS students scoring agg of 250 or higher on PSLE?
Thanks for sharing any comments.

sugarpie2honey,
Thank you for your data! How did you find the info? from their website?
Ngee Ann and Haig Girl are still my choices for my daughter, but recently my friend told me Ngee Ann is better because it is affiliated with Ngee Ann secondary.
If my child did very well in PSLE as she could get more than 250, it does not matter. But if she did not, the advantage could make a big difference.
What abou CCA? May I know P1 students can start CCA in Ngee Ann or Haig Girl?
It seems like Haig Girl has more selections.
What do you think? I want my dd to enjoy activities other than studying. -

The CHIJ's exact percentages came directly from their website. Then I checked Ngee Ann's website and found they actually list the students scoring 250+ and tell how many in each year's cohort, thus a simple calculation to get their percentage. Still wishing to get this data from HGS. I did dig up a letter from the principal dated 4 Jan 2012 in which the principal from HGS congratulates P6 class of 2011 and says, \"About 9% of our P6 Class of 2011 was offered places at secondary schools such as Dunman High School, MGS, RGS, SCGS, SOTA, and TKGS through Direct School Admission.\" Still, I would like to get the exact info for apple to apple comparison...
Your point about secondary affiliation is good. ...very true!
As for CCA's, true again that there are more choices at HGS.
What HGS has that NAPS doesn't is:
Basketball, Bowling, Netball, Swimming, Red Cross, Ballet & Tap, Gamelan Ensemble, Handbells, Debating Club, MRL Club, Science Club, Let's Act, and Math Club.
And, the CCA's NAPS has that HGS doesn't is:
Table tennis, Soccer, Floorball, Lion Dance (included in their Wushu), Guzheng Ensemble, Chinese Orchestra, Caligraphy (perhaps could be taught in HGS' Chinese Cultural Club?), Robotics Club, and Scouts (of course).
I enquired earlier this year for my P1 son at NAPS as to whether he could join the CCA -looking for something sporty. I was told that they usually wait til end of P2 to invite them in for such CCA's, but that they could try for any of the performing arts CCAs earlier. However, just last week, my P1 son was invited to join in Table Tennis CCA which I'm very happy for the opportunity and believe it is because of NAPS being very responsive after conducting a parent survey last term regarding CCAs. I had noted on the survey that I would prefer him to start a CCA ealier while in P1/P2 academics are less taxing on his time.
My HGS daughter was invited to join Dance CCA towards the end of P1. Seems the schools are always on the lookout for any talent they can grow and stretch. I would think for the performing arts, music, and such, the earlier they start, the better!
Nice to share info with you! Thanks again for your previous sharing of PSLE data when I was struggling to find it. -
