Hi phttp, Can U advice based on ranking is better- Ngee Ann, St Stephens or TKPS?

Read that Ngee Ann has the best reviews on the 3 schools.
Even a friend who can go grassroot route is choosing NAPS over ST Stephens…morever heard that new principal is very on the ball in both academic n EQ development.
Added to the fact is that Ngee Ann sends their students for Neuro Maths classes subsidized heavily by the school:)

What is your take on this? Added to the fact somewhere in your other post you have a niece in Ngee Ann…how does she find the school?
          Academic?Character building?
Best thing on the school? Worse thing?
How does she find teachers,friends-any bullies?
Any other info to make a good decision…

Thanks very much n sorry for the trouble.

I’m sure Red Swastika and Temasek Primary are hot schools in Bedok. Which schools in bedok historically do not have to ballot within 1 km? thx.

                  Neighbourhood schools the best option!

If get into a poppular school - it is not just torturous process now (with ballotting and all) but also for the next 6years for a child’s life and of course the poor mummy and daddy too!
                  Popular school…nah for me…

Temasek primary, anyone knows if they'll be renovating/upgrading in the near future? Whats Temasek added value? thx

                    Why ask about their upgrading?

Their campus still quite new worr..

Temasek is currently undergoing upgrading (addition of sports hall among others). You can see the field closed off along Upper East Coast Road. Expected completion - end 2014. FYI

                      http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=29025&start=20

                      iii)
St Stephen never posted her PSLE results, on her school website.

Thus, you may email to 3 schools (TKPS, St Stephen, NAPS) -
request for psle results for 2011 / 2012 and then, compare yourself.
from there, you should be able to conclude academic wise - which is a better school, amongst these 3 ?

The last day of Phase 2C registration is 1 August.
                      Today is 1 July.
you have exactly 1 month - to work with, to request for further info, by email the school directly.
Speak to the Mother Tongue Head of Department Teacher in charge directly, address your concern.
Bring your child and spouse down together, visit all 3 schools.

Prepare a list of questions you want to ask first, on a piece of paper, before go down.
(so that you do not miss out any single question you deem important, in your decision making on choice of school)
After you visit all 3 schools –
your gut feel will tell you – which is the most suitable school for your child.

                      b)
                      let us analyse …

since we do not have St Stephen results, we can only compare 2012 psle results, between TKPS and NAPS :-

                      Quality Percentage passes, number of A / A* ( %):-

                      Chinese NAPS scored 83.7 % vs TKPS 65.2 %

This shows that Ngee Ann primary is very strong in Chinese –
leading by a substantial margin of 18.5 %

although Ngee Ann is not a SAP school -
but the school build a good, strong stable foundation fundamentals in Chinese, from P1.
A number of P6 pupils from those few, top classes like to target Secondary SAP schools, example:-
Anglican High Secondary (in Simei), Nanyang Girls' High, Dunman High, Hwa Chong, etc.

                      English NAPS scored 51.1 % vs TKPS 49.8 %
Ngee Ann primary is ahead in English, by a small margin of 1.3 %

                      Maths NAPS scored 54.9 % vs TKPS 46.1 %
Ngee Ann primary is ahead in Mathematics, by a difference of 8.8 %

                      Science NAPS scored 51.4 % vs TKPS 47.8 %
Ngee Ann primary is ahead in Science, by a difference of 3.6 %

                      Malay NAPS scored 83.3 % vs TKPS 70.4 %
Ngee Ann primary is ahead in Malay, by a difference of 12.9 %

                      Tamil - both schools scored 100 %

the best is try to get hold of a few years' psle results yourself -
compare if the trend holds true, for other years as well.
based on 1 year (2012), results do indicate that Ngee Ann primary is ahead of Tanjong Katong primary, except for Tamil (no difference)

c)\tAny other info to make a good decision.?
