Insider, since yr gal was told that Laos people were not protected by Buddha then she should have told them in Straits Times last week, a Korean pastor refuse to bring his 3 sick children to see doctor. He prayed and prayed. The 3 children died. I m not sure if he will be charged for murder.

      That why I say 相信就好不要迷信。

i studied at a christian school and i have teachers constantly telling us that the gods that buddists and muslim pray to are devil in disgust and no matter how we protest, the teaachers would keep saying we go to hell if we dun convert and we have chapel every wed and muslims are exempted after they complained to MOE. Chinsese are forced to attend and the pastor would keep talking and dragging until someone in the crowd stand up and says i accept christ. i used to hope someone would just stand up and save the rest of us from the talking. sometimes i resort to sleeping.

My hubby is a christian who dun attend church as he feels pastor tends to twist the words so he prefer to read the bibles and i am a buddhist. My hubby dun hold joss sticks but he eats all the food prayed :scratchhead:
Dunno his logic. My girl is too young for religion yet but i hope i can expose her more to buddhist way and i cannot imagine if she becomes a staunch christian which can cause the house to chaos if she wants to convert us.My freb is one example with her daughter , son and hubby being staunch christian and she is the only buddhist and they keep trying to bring her to church, get bible studies fellowship christian to come to her house and says she is praying to devil and she will go to hell.My fren is no longer on talking terms with her son, daughter and hubby even though they lives in the same house

I feel that everyone should respect one another religion and belief. Why must keep on converting other people? My auntie (buddhist) was "forced" to convert to christian on her death bed by her son. "Forced" as she told us she did not want to convert but convert not for the belief but for the love of her son. Anyway she said she was dying soon, no point fighting with her son. Sad right? Why can’t he let her rest in peace? Her husband died as a buddhist and she felt sad that she can’t be buried with him.

i can feel my fren sadness when i meet her and i try to avoid talking about her family. My mother in law also considering converting to christianity cos she feels nobody will pray or offer joss sticks to her when it’s her time to go or to the ancestor and being christian will save all the trouble but my brother in law not interested in christianity and me though buddhist, i am not so much into ancestor praying cos must remember which day to go to kwang ming san to pray.

My mother side, a lot of my aunties all convert to christians and one of them being staunch christian keep preaching to us and keep saying buddha is devil form until to the point my father will show her the black face everytime he sees her and my mum being pestered and nagged by my auntie that she told my auntie "how u know there is a heaven? have you been there? wait until you been there then come back and tell me" and my auntie stopped her preaching.

Give importance for understanding between each other. If there is love there is know importance for religion. Then your life will be happy.

I think I’m a bad christian if measured against how many people I’m converted. I don’t share in such a way that people felt intimidated but as christian I’m expected to "save souls". I prefer to live my life that others can see Christ in me, in other words, a living testimony. Action speaks louder than words. I know of how some people avoid their christian friends cos they were pissed off by those so called religious talk. ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD Zechariah 4:6

If every Christian live as you do, there will probably be less conflict in the world.

I am not a Christian though my parents & brothers are. My mom keep company with a bunch of Christians who are evangelistic and the longest time would come and tell me that i would go to hell if i do not convert. When that didnt work, the soft tactic of \"wouldnt you want to be with us, your family when you die?\" and think of your poor old mom worried about you... etc etc. And when i married a Buddhist, the remarks that i have to put up with about my DH and his family... sigh.. It really PUTS ME OFF big time because religion is and should be personal and private. Dont Christians always say that they have a personal relationship with Christ?

Thankfully my father holds the same view as you, Tutormom... and he got my mom and her friends to ease the pressure and stress because he could what they were doing were alienating me instead. So i appreciate Christians like my dad and brothers and friends.. who do what the religion preach more than just preaching...

So i am still a free-thinker... my grouse is not with whether that there is a God. I am open to the idea that there is a creator.. but until people who purport to speak for Him can live up to everything that they speak of and not have that 'my God is better than your God' mindset... i prefer to go on with my life, living it as morally as i can as a good human being with no regrets.

My paternal side is Buddhist. Maternal side is also buddhist. So get on very well 😄 My parents won't let me convert to any religion though. But I LOVE beef and sometimes I crave to eat beef at home but I can't because of religious problems. So frustrating 😓

                      cherrygal:
Those Christians are over zealous fanatics. I have had such pple, including an ex boss coming to me to \"convert\" me from my religion too. And when I tell them I am a Catholic, lo and behold, the attack gets worse. They start challenging my knowledge of the bible and speak disrespectfully about Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus. I really hate to get into an argument with them. Feel like asking them, would you be so disrespectful to your own mother? We love Mary because she is Jesus' mom!

As for that ex-boss, I just told him to stop the conversation, he can pretend to win the argument if he wants to. Some tote the bible but yet can act like a total idiot at work. Not true Christians, if you ask me.
That's ironic. Don't Christians love Jesus? Then why be disrespectful to his mom? I mean, that's super contradictive..

Most "moderate" religions guide and encourage one to be a good and decent person. Most of these religion organisations spend time and resources to help the poor, sick and needy - providing food, medication and even shelter without expecting anything in return. There are those that also bring friendship, companionship, peace of mind, meaning to life and purpose to living.

Credit be given where credit is due.

Of course, there will be always those that
                        1) cross the line,
                        2) move the line,
                        3) draw lines everywhere,
                        4) create lines for others,
                        5) dunno why there is a line(s), or
                        6) step on other peoples’ line(s)

                        Beware of such people.
