I think instant heater is alot more energy saving than water tank heater but the water using instant heater seems not as hot as the tank type, do u feel the same too?
For instant heater, the water is flowing continuously, there is a limit how much \"heating\" the water is subjected to before they flow out of the heater. It is not practical to have a XXXXL heater inside a heater..
But for storage heater, it's different. The water are stored inside. As long as heat is supplied, the temperature will continue to raise. So it is possible to heat the water by 10, 20, or even 30, 40°C.
That is why, instant heater is never practical in winter countries. The incoming water at 5°C, add 10°C to it, still only 15°C, not warm enough.
Oh, still need to go with storage heater for hotter water. -

To cut down on gas usage, does the type of cookware matter? as well as the stove condition?
MIL stove burner is not ok, some of the caps are chipped and I notice the flames are not even. She does not know that the flame should sit under the pot. Many of her pots hv burnt marks at the sides.
I use piped gas, most of my cookware are WMF s/s and I use residual heat to cook through the food. -

Wow! Flower and cherrygal that's amazing! Do u cook lunch also and weekends? How come mine last only 27days. Do u gals always cook soup? My maid cook soup 1 hour everyday. Actually I think city gas is cheap.
Yes I cook on weekends too. I usually cook my soup for 2-3 hrs on stove. And I cook breakfast & lunch too but not everyday. My gas is thru pipe not tank. -

Yes, cooking habits also matter. I like to use medium to low heat when boiling things, never let the fire touch the sides of the pots. The large flame is only used for quick stir-frying in my wok. After food preparation, I cook one dish after the other very quickly. I don’t let the empty wok sit on an open flame for too long.

It should stay almost constant but if there is fluctuation in flow rate (i.e., someone turns on the other taps or flush etc..), the temperature will fluctuate accordingly.
Then, if you turn it off(water flow) for a while (soaping etc..), and turn it on, it will be \"hot\" for a while then stabilise. Because after you turn it off previously, the heater is still hot(even power already cut) and continue to heat the water in the heater chamber for a while.
using storage tank should provide more steady water temperature. -

I will be away for months and would like to switch off all appliances including the fridge. But i understand that the freezer may not work again.
anyone knows how to switch it off properly so that it would work again when i come back later?
