Hi justMommy, care to share some of the tuition centres which you would recommend? In my opinion, think I will opt for something which will interest my child instead of constant drilling which I feel can be achieved by doing assessment books and past year papersโ€ฆ

My girls did worse than expected this time, especially in Maths. I wrote in to their well-known tuition center to review the results and analyze the cause of the problem, there is no reply after 5 days! Super pissed off and upset by the sudden change in attitude!!! You see how these tuition centers claimed how good they are in improving the studentsโ€™ results but when their own students do not do well, they just shy away from the parents, do not even want to help nor talk to you.

Any chance of talking to the teacher directly to have a better idea of what went wrong?

Yes, I will be seeing the school teachers next week but was thinking of talking to tutors first because they specialized in Maths. They may be able to diagnose the issue by looking at the school papers. It is disappointing that they do not even want to reply my email.

              Hi,

I am a Primary Maths Tutor for several years. I am patient and do have several years of experience in teaching Primary School Maths. I do manage to get students who score A* for PSLE. My hp is 81215031 and email is [email protected]. Do feel free to let me know if you have any queries. Thank you.

hi Evelyn K , am new here. Happened to come across this thread.

How old is your daughter now and can you share how are the lessons taught in Kip Mcgrath? Does they goes according to the school syllabus and What is the fee? Why you need to send her to 2 centers?

My dd now P3 is slow and weak in her maths. She needs a tuition that can goes according to her pace. Tried other tuition centre b4 and she unable to catch up with their pace ,so she don't likes to goes for her maths tuition. Thks! ๐Ÿ˜“

Hi elmokid07, my daughter is 8. I send her to the centre in TPY lor 7 only. The 2 centres I posted are run by the same people, so they have the same tutors. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would prefer good tutors than centres and since i got to know they run to these 2 centres only i share for others convenience. ๐Ÿ˜‰

She is very weak in her math. After a test done by them, they sat me down and explained to me they would start from the basic. Like filling up the gaps she has in school. There are some computer activities too. (i think it is great because she cant sit still! haha) The lessons given to her now are based on how to catch up in school, so she wont feel left out. Subsequently as she gets better they would do a new lesson plan for her. All of which are based on MOE syllabus. ๐Ÿ™‚
They mentioned that it is a class of 5 students max. Really small group, which i like too.

Hi Evelyn K, can you share the duration of the lesson and course fee? Do you know if the teachers are full-time/ part-time, MOE trained? I also prefer small group tuition, preferably not more than 6 in a class.

Anyway, I am very disappointed that my daughtersโ€™ tuition center has not responded, almost 1 week since they asked me to write in. I can only blame it on bad luck that out of so many Math tuition centers, I picked this one! I can only conclude that this center is really just interested to talk to parents whose kids have done well in their SA1 so that they can publish the "achievement", telling the whole world how amazing they are. When other people shared their stories, I took it like a pinch of salt but now that it happened to my daughters, I finally understand what they meant.

My friends send their kids for brain training instead of maths tuition ๐Ÿ˜‚ . It helps them to be motivated, improve study and thinking skills. They did improve academically .

My friends told me a lot of centres are franchised, like KM, MS,KRTC........they are the bosses of some of them ๐Ÿ˜‚ Different centres have different standard

                        Just sharing
