Thanks everyone for your advice. Will try to pop down on Fri evening for a peek. I also have a dilemma, hope someone seasoned in this game can offer kind opinion...

My son is baptized Catholic, we live within 1km of CHS (Phase 2B) and 1km of AiTong (Phase 2C), and >2km from Maris Stella (can be Phase 2B). We don't speak Chinese at home very much but teachers say his language skills are quite good.

Looking at the probability of places left, what should my strategy be?
      1) Ballot for CHS anyway at Phase 2B (even if 10places), if no-go, try for CHS/Ai Tong at Phase 2C? But that means I have to find a worst-case scenario school...
      2) Get a place at Maris Stella (Phase 2B usu no balloting)? Safer bet?

What is a good worst-case scenario school that have places at Phase 2C supp? Would prefer mission schools, same-gender type.
St Gabriels at Lorong Chuan is a Catholic all-boys school. In some years, it had places even in phase 2C supp. Can consider. Good luck with CHS though; hope you will ballot successfully! 🙏

Not to worry. My dd is fm a non Mandarin speaking home and she's coping well in a SAP school. Shouldn't be any problem for your son.

          Dear Cherrygal,

Judging from the number of people who turned up this morning, it doesn’t look like there will be a phase 2C at CHS. Chances are better at Ai Tong school. CHS’ chinese standard is very high, they pride themselves in churning out bilingual scholars. However, it is too early to judge the child if he can cope now. CHS has a very good team of chinese teachers.

How about Kuo Chuan ? Is that an option for you ?

          Dear Growie,
Yes, you can just walk in. The notice board is right in front of the general office at the main entrance of the school.

Good luck to you both !

unless all vacancies are taken up by phase 2A2, then there will be phase 2C.

Balance vacancies from phase 2A2 are split 50:50 between phase 2B & phase 2C

            😄

                Dear Cherrygal, Dear Growie,

31 registered at CHS as of 11am this morning.
                2 are within 1km, 4 are between 1 to 2Km and 25 are outside 2km.
                Quite a lot, isn’t it ?

Wat if they exceed 62 then will be 1st time balloting in pA2 :!:

:!: That would also mean ZERO places for 2B and 2C!!

No la... shouldn't be la... that has never ever happen before in Singapore right? The worst case I heard so far is balance of abt 20% for 2B and 2C..That is already so so scary..

yeah lor very scary :!: :!: and this is 2004 year when there were less no. of kids 🙏 🙏
Maybe the numbers will change again at 2B/2C phase? Just thinking that maybe there will be cases of withdrawal fm earlier phases after confirming sure-in for Phase 2B or 2C in their preferred school... Anything is still possible.

                      Good luck people.. 🙏

Wow...that's alot indeed! Thanks for update. It's like 10 people registering every hour. So by 4.30pm today, another 20 people would have registered.
So what are the chances that more than 62 people will register? CHS will break record if ballot needs to be conducted for those staying more than 2km... & what's more it's under 2A2! :!:
