My son will be registering this year for Primary school and because my alma mater is Red Swastika, and my husband's is Tao Nan School, we can choose to send my boy to either school through phase 2A1... and we are faced with a dilemma of which school to send my son to.

Wow, this is a wonderful dilemma

If in a similar situation, I would definitely opt for TNS.

Generally, I prefer teachers to over-teach than to under-teach. I think I would probably be more stressed if there are insufficient materials to study for exam & need to pay external centers to supplement the teaching materials. Just my personal opinion 😄

Another consideration is - just a speculation, I don't have any facts to support this:
I think it should be easier to transfer from TNS to RSS (in case really couldn't cope) but harder the other round

Tao Nan is both (SAP + GEP) school. Solid grounding in Chinese from Primary 1. Enrol into Tao Nan first. If really can't cope, later on can transfer out to other school(s).

also compare minimal past 3 to 5 years Tao Nan vs. Red Swastika PSLE results. Compare Mainstream vs Mainstream (ie. compare apples with apples). See how far off the mark they're from each other.

since both of you are alumni members from both schools, should be quite easy to network, inquire & obtain past year PSLE results.

Hi, my kid has been transferred to RSS last year and by putting up in Marine Parade, I do have some frenz whose kids are in TN.

Just curious, why didn't you consider TNS? Proximity wise...

I also graduated in 1986. From class 6/3. The super noisy class. 6/4 was mr loy? He was my science teacher.

Of course this is the school that i have wait-list too. Unfortunately, most of the SAP schools in the East offered me the place except TNS.

                    Hi All RSS mummies /daddies,

I am in a dilemma now as thinking should I register my DD in RSS which is 1km under phrase 2C or register in Maha Bodhi under phrase 2B.

RSS is defiantly my first choice due to distance but Maha Bodhi is further away yet higher chance to be successfully enrolled.

                    Please advise. Appreciate it

                    Best Regards
                    Mug

If I'm in your situation, I'll register in maha bodhi in phase 2b, secure a place first. Monitor the situation for rss phase 2c. If no balloting is needed to the last day, then give up the place in maha bodhi. Somewhere in the forum under the. P1 registration there's a thread discussing how to do this.
                    Good luck. 😄

Ha ha.. too obvious to post the list of schools in here. Nevertheless, the only reason why i keep changing is because the school is not meeting my expectation in terms of academics performance. I am not making a sweeping statement that schools she had left were no good as end of the day, i do acknowledge that every school is enriching her in some way or another. The decision i take is solely on my expectation of her and the school. The teaching must align as i am closely supervising her myself too.
