Yes, no need to join cca if don’t want to. Not compulsory. As the cca are limited, not much choices, if your sons like something else, can just learn fr outside vendors.

Also, bear in mind the time that the boys need to put in. Twice a week at least, and during competition, 3 - 5 times a week need to stay back, even till night & even weekends. If really interested then join. Don’t force them & end up everyone black face.

I have friends’ sons didn’t join anything, didn’t even take higher chinese. Just concentrate on the 4 subjects, did well, now in RI & HCI. Then start joining cca in sec sch, also turned out well.

So it depends on what the child wants & what the child is interested in.

can i check, for the white school shirt whereby u need to fix on the metal buttons:

                1) do you let your boy wear a singlet underneath or will the button rings irritate the kid’s skin?
                2) fo you actually remove the buttons after each wear for washing, or can you just put the shirt with buttons in laundry net for washing? will the button paint drop off if you do this?
                thanks!

                  Hi

I'm staying in Tampines and my son will start P1 next year.
I've called the school bus company and they told me for Tampines area, pick up time is around 6am.
Are you a SAHM or are you enroling yr son to student care?

                    1) Recommend not to wear a singlet as the children will sweating when running up and down and playing during recess. Also, classroom has no air con.

                    2) We actually remove and put on the 7 buttons 3-4 days /week (3 min job), the rest are PE days or the collared anniversary/family day shirt.
I think they can wear the T-shirt everyday except Monday.
Some parents actually sew the buttons on the uniform, but i think it might damage your washing machine.

i was told they can only wear t-shirt on PE days, which would be thu & fri in our case. i think my son would be happier in T!

i was also actually thinking of sewing the buttons on the uniform, though not too certain how to do it with the "hole" underneath. i would put the shirt in a laundry net before puttin it in the washing machine, as that should protect the shirt and washing machine. but will the button lose it’s silver color from repeated wash?

We have no problem putting the buttons into the washing machine. Have been doing the last 6 yrs. And without using net.

No, the shine won’t be lost. Only the ring at the back slightly rusty but not an issue.

The washing machine also didn’t spoil.
