CAN I GET MORE FEEDBACK ABOUT GUANGYANG PRIMARY SCH...IM STAYING IN BISHAN, KCPPS CALLED ME AND SAID THAT 1KM HAS FILLED UP THE SPACE..ASKED ME TO WITHDRAW APPLICATION. WAS SOOOOOO HEARTBROKEN.
For all you know it might be a blessing in disguise
Dd in p2 now, always keen and happy to go to school. The school is proactive to improve itself, very apparent when i see some improved measures done to facilitate school events. I'm truly impressed and heartened to hear that the P wants the school to partner with parents in this journey for the best interest of our kids. It was during an address to the parents and i remember feeling so touched by his sincerity when he said that.
More importantly, there are great teachers here. We are blessed my dd has an amazing FT. Although there is a high number of foreigners in dd class, we fellow mummies bonded regardless of nationality and supported each other via WhatsApp with no agenda and only for the best interest of our kids. I'm not sure if i could get this level of support from local mummies who tend to be really competitive esp at the more branded schools. -
Hi my son just entered gyps and he seems to be really happy past few day. Can anyone enlighten me how many classes of p6 are there? not sure if I am mistaken but I was under the impression via there are only 2 classes. and do you know why so few classes?
Thanks -
If i am not wrong, the school shifted to amk a few years ago and hence the enrolment was affected.

Thank applemum for your reply. since there so few classes, will there be Streaming in P3 and P4? Would be great if someone can help advise on how the School is preparing the kids academically for Psle, or how have the recent batches did for Psle?

Gyps tend to have smaller cohort compared to neighbouring schools. Streaming is done twice - once at p2 to stream into p3, another at p4 to stream into p5
My dd is in p3, teachers are great and i believe the school will prepare her adequately for psle. If anything, the teachers here are more used to slower students and tend to provide more support. Parents who can give good learning support at home would help tremendously.
School n teachers tend to be quite tight lipped about psle results, so i can't tell you how the different batches have performed.
Being a smaller school also means more learning opportunities for every student, especially leadership roles. That's one lifelong skills to acquire which you can't learn from books but by experience. -
i am torn between Farrer park primary and guangyang primary for my boy. any thoughts on which is a more nurturing and well rounded school? thanks!

Perhaps a school tour and talking to school personnels might give you a better comparison? Distance is equally important too.
Personally, gyps is a good fit for my girl in all aspects. She is a dreamy girl since young but her P1 teacher saw her potential and gave her plenty of opportunity to be groomed as a leader. I can see her blossoming into a confident young lady, more in charge of her work and less dreamy over the years. She is now in P3.
Hope you can find what fits your child. -

The school was totally rebuilt about three years ago. It's less popular than it otherwise might be because the other schools in Bishan are all hard to get into.
