St Anthony's Primary

The top 2 classes perform quite well. Based on last year’s psle results, half of kids from the top class got 250 and above. On average, the t-score has been improving.

If you asking academic standard I'm not too sure..^o^..Hi Ben's mum,
Sooo sorry, I was losing hope that anyone will reply to my post n I did not check for a few weeks n did not see your reply until now. Very grateful I got a response fr u.
Just 1 last qn before I stop hounding the thread here, how is st Anthony's academic standard like? Say compare to keming or princess E or bukit panjang? -
Thank BB_mom and Ben’s mom!!
Sounds like St Anthony is doing well. Hopefully can get my son in next yr… : ) -
Would like to find out if 90% overall results but only 70% in mother tongue can qualify for top Pri3 class?
-
I believe banding based on other 3 subjects. DD was in top class when she was in p3 and her MT was average. Definitely not in the 90s.
-
Thanks you bb mom.
I hear some of the parents saying only 95% and above can go into 3-1 class. Is the standard so high? There is no class position given in the report book, so not able to tell our chance. -
As the top 2 classes are pushed harder than the rest, it makes sense they put the cream there. No class ranking but there would be total score. From DD’s experience, consistent band 1 for all subjects. Otherwise cannot cope and get demoralized. During DD’s P5 year, she had endless amount of homework and always on Fridays. DS is now in P5 and he has very little work.

Thanks bb mom. Not easy to get 95% for english. Have show and tell marks and composition.

hi, bb_mom,
may I check on the remedial/extra lessons which the school arranges for p5 and p6 classes, to stay back to attend after formal school hours??
From what I know, last year's p6 class, only need to stay bACK once a week for 2hours,to cover 3 subjects, which would be rotated to cover 1 subject per week, meaning each subject get only around 2 hours per month??
But I note that this is for an average class, not the top classes..
May I know for top classes(there 2 top classes?? the rest are not ranked according to results, is it??), how many days they need to stay back for extra/remedial lessons??
I am asking as I am deciding for my son's registration next year, between St Anthony Pri, and the school which my girl is attending right now(which will be direct entry and fuss free) but very academic-driven and super competitive environment, and am worried that it may not suit my son..
But on the other hand, also worried if St Anthony is too lax..
haha..maybe I thinking too much and too far
Thanks In advance for any advice/clarification from u and other parents

Yes, remedial/supplementary classes are all after school from 130pm onwards. MT on Mondays and the rest on Thursdays. MT is held every week but the remaining subjects are kind of random dates. These are issued at the beginning of the year when the selected student is notified of such lessons. Fridays are reserved for CCAs.hi, bb_mom,

Yes, that's right. And during the June hols, I think it was 3 days either at the beginning or at the end. Can't really recall. From what I know, last year's p6 class, only need to stay bACK once a week for 2hours,to cover 3 subjects, which would be rotated to cover 1 subject per week, meaning each subject get only around 2 hours per month??

The rest of the classes are grouped according to their strengths in specific subjects, according to DS. His class is supposedly better in science and weak in remaining English and math. MT is separately grouped.May I know for top classes(there 2 top classes?? the rest are not ranked according to results, is it??), how many days they need to stay back for extra/remedial lessons??
As I mentioned, 2 days are reserved for remedial but only if required. Compulsory supplementary classes start in p6.
