CHIJ (Kellock)

Someone advised me to NOT let the kids join CCAs in primary school and to concentrate 100% on their studies. Is this a sound advice?
But Kellock states tat each student MUST have a CCA from P3 onwards.
If i have an option, i would rather not to let her join any CCA coz i was so drain out by CCA during my pri sch days. -
Hmmm. Will have to work around that. This morning, my dd told me that she wanted to play the trumpet and I almost fainted!
-
haha… i was in the band during my pri sch days and played coronet (smaller version of a trumpet). Tough i muz say to join band…
-
I played the euphonium. Horribly heavy when marching I must say!
-
What about bowling? I saw they have this CCA? Is it for Pri 3 and above only?
Can someone advise what CCAs choice do Pri 1 have?
-
I would have let my dd join the choir since she likes to sing. However, she does not even have an inch of musical talent in her bones. Sigh.

Hey me too... Should be letting my DD join the chior as she loves to sing...
But that also means no chance for DSA later... -
As a senior Kellock girl’s mum, my dd enjoyed her CCA there. Netball and gym are the niche areas, tennis team is also quite strong in recent years.
Personally I think CCA helps my dd grow and learn how to manage time better.
The benefit of CCA: my dd got the offer from Nanyang Girls’ High and RGS by CCA. Of course, my dd also studies hard. -
Thanks, BlueBreeze, for your insight. I hope that joining a CCA will help our daughters to develop EQ, leadership and social skills.

Thanks BlueBreeze too! Now, I am also thinking which CCA is more suitable for my daughter. I am thinking to find an indoor CCA cos she is on the tan side. If too long in the sun, she will be too dark for my liking. LOL
