      jaspire:

I am very curious how does the school identify kids whom need to go for LSP? And also, do they do any screening? If yes, when?
      Here is the link
      http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/program ... g-support/

After P1 pupils have settled down in School during the initial first 2 to 3 Weeks of P1 Term 1, the 3 subject Tr (English, Maths, Chinese) will start to assess their class.
But Tr won't notify parents about this quiet observation / assessment, of the class. School won't alert parents about this.

      By end of P1 Term 1 -
the subject Tr would have identified which pupil inside the class, need help ? Then, only those P1 parents involved, will be informed, accordingly.

But Doesn't mean that every year bound to have students selected to attend LSP.
Depend on your batch of students.
If happen that in your year, majority of the students can read well, can recognize numbers, then no child need to attend.

school trying to sieve out or identify which child facing problem, with basic, fundamental reading literacy, or basic recognition of numbers, basic counting ?
      Then school will help them.

For Chinese, it is called \"bridging\" program.
For Chinese, they don't call it LSP

For English / Maths, it is called LSP

                    Hi Meiah and jkwleong!

I read that NYPS teach 弟子规. May I know at which level do they introduce this as it is very new to me and my child. I am not sure what to expect for this. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

@jaspire i am the wrong person to ask as i myself am not sure what to expect of this too.

perhaps we can ask the teachers and principal about this during the orientation on 15 Nov 2014.

in the meantime, my son is enrolled in Berries, so i hope that should prepare him for any chiam chiam Chinese that will be coming his way. i eat potato one, my wife is the best of both languages.

and i can’t really imagine orientation with 390 new students + potentially 2 parents for each students, which can come up to 1,170 people on that day… siao bor…

                        not to mention grandparents…
