Hi BigDevilMost definitely! We brought her along during registration and introduced the school to her. But of course the school looks a lot different from during my time there. When I was there, what is now NYPS was still NYGHS!!
Furthermore, my DD is one who loves going to school. Never cried a single day since first day in nursery. She'd rather not have any school holidays at alll!! :lol:
So with a boy already in the school, do you still plan to go to the orientation on Nov 21?
Yes will bring DS2 to the orientation. They will be introduced to their class teacher during the orientation program and it would also be a good opportunity for him to meet his fellow classmates, maybe make some new friends

Read in this forum that we have to bring a truck load of cash that day to make purchases. So what are we expected to buy that day? Can we buy them some other time? How about the uniforms....where is a good place to get that?

You will be receiving some mail from NYPS nearer the time. Book lists, uniform contacts, class (forgot whether got this). Kid will follow teacher to class, parents need to sit in hall to listen to principal, staff talk.
Basically you can order the books from Internet & collect on orientation day. Need the order number & kid birth cert number for the collection in the canteen. Better to do it this way if you don't want the hassle of having missing books.
On orientation day, check the notice board outside the hall for your kid's House & class. You can purchase uniform & sports attire on the same day in one of the class rooms. Suggest you get at least 2 sets of each or 3 uni/2 sports if possible. Need name tags for EVERY shirt/t-shirt.
Yes, you need your cheque book or a load of cash. They won't accept credit.

Sorry first time being a P1 parent...so many questions. :oops: You should received an orientation package sometime in oct/nov which will give you all the necessary information, ie. your child's class and house colour, book lists. Don't really need a truckload of cash.... just bring a few blank cheques with you You can preorder the textbooks online and collect on orientation day if you want. Payment is COD. The only other thing I purchased on that day was a series of English readers which was suppose to be compulsory. (which actually I think they do not actually use in class :roll: ) I didn't bother getting the uniforms on that day cos the queue was very long!! You can get the uniforms (available on the spot) and name tags (takes about 2 weeks) from a shop at Coronation Plaza. Oh yes, there was a vendor selling school bags on orientation day and I did buy a bag from there for my DS. So that's about all the $$ I had to spend that day..... Hope this is helpful.
