      Jennifer:

Found out this year P4 class is not grouped by EL, hence the disparity in std in my boy's class.
      You are another fast mommy.

Can you elaborate on this? I thot they are banded by P3 avg % of the 4 subjects, no?

        Your understanding \"based on P3 % avg of 4 subjs\" is correct for last year P3 2010, this year P4 2011.

We were told by the EL teacher that the 2 previous years (P3 in 2008 & 2009) were grouped based on EL banding.

I see I see. So last year and before CH4 has the highest EL scores in P3, but no nec strong in other subjects? Is that what you meant? No wonder my girl's class has band 1 to band 3 for EL.

Come to think of it, the disparity of even the M1 class in their CA1 scores (from band 1 to band 3) is also quite huge although the class is grouped based on highest maths results.

I have received the Parent STAR reading report. They said that my dd is at least 80% proficient at reading sixth grade words and books. But when we borrow books from the library she always likes to borrow 6-9 aged books.

How I wish they have a star reading report on Chinese ability too. If that is tested, I guess mine will be in the 10th percentile.

For english books, from the library, my 9 yo is borrowing from a range starting from preschooler to young adult.

If the school have Chinese reading test, my dd will be very embarrassed. πŸ˜›

Normally, every week on Wednesday my dd has ι»˜ε†™

so on Thursday I let my dd read ALL the ι»˜ε†™ sentences 3 times.
On Friday, my dd memorise the ones she chose 3 times again when she is taking a bath.
On Saturday, she will write the 1st ι»˜ε†™.
On Sunday she will write the 2nd one.
On Monday she will write the 3rd one.
On Tuesday she will write all 3 together.
On Wednesday she will have her ι»˜ε†™ in school.
Then on Thursday she will read the next ι»˜ε†™ 3 times and so on...

                  Wow very systematic, lizhi :salute:

Can tell that moxie really takes a big chunk of study time. Better enjoy P1 (for my case) while it lasts :nailbite: .

Actually, it can be done in 5-15 minutes everyday. Learning ι»˜ε†™ benefits a lot because you can use it for compositions. If you can remember it VERY VERY well, then you can use it VERY VERY freely, that means \"η†Ÿθƒ½η”Ÿε·§\".

I supposed I can only confirm EL was the strongest subj for CH4 (2009 & 2010) based on what the EL teacher commented. Cant tell for sure the other subj.

oh? Could be too many careless mistakes for the band 3 pupils?

Almost forgot to share this from the CL teacher. For the weaker P4 pupils, must use this year wisely to buck up CL std. The jump from P4 to P5 is not marginal and P5 is a very busy year.

Met son’s teachers this morning. It was an interactive and really valuable chat.
