I think there were 4 or 5 PVG committee members who did the interview, sort of like a panel sitting there. I dunno how many they called for interviews vs how many they actually select in the end. But u should get the reply pretty fast after the interview.

S'poreans to get priority for P1 places during balloting: MOE

              SINGAPORE:
From this year, Singaporeans will get absolute priority over permanent residents, when it comes to balloting for primary school places.

The Education Ministry said where balloting is required during Primary One registration, Singaporeans will be admitted first ahead of permanent residents, before home-school distance is considered.

For example, when the number of applications exceed the number of school places, Singaporeans who live closer to the school of choice will get higher priority compared to Singaporeans who live further away.

Citizens living within one kilometre will be admitted first, followed by those who live between one kilometre and two kilometres from school.

Singaporeans who live outside two kilometres of the school of choice will then be given a place.

If there are still vacancies in the school after all eligible Singaporean children have been admitted after balloting, places will be given to permanent residents, with priority given to those who live closer to school.

MOE said by giving Singaporeans priority over PRs only when balloting is required, it retains the underlying principles of the Primary One registration framework, which reflect a careful balance of considerations, and provide for diversity in Singapore schools, while according citizens a further privilege.

This is on top of a measure introduced in 2010, where Singaporeans are given two ballot slips for each child for Primary One registration, while PRs get one ballot slip per child.

MOE also announced that there will be seven new primary schools next year - five in the new towns of Sengkang and Punggol, and one each in Jurong West and Woodlands.

We had a few basketball players (mainstream girls) who successfully DSAed into RGS and NYGH last year.
                  Dunno about softball, though.

Softball is also very sought after, go for it! not that easy to get in. I told my girl to apply about 2 yrs back when they introduced softball in school, she told me the girls were observed and selected already. Also good for DSA. Highly recommended!!

DD now P3 has been in basketball since last year. She was identified as one with potential and is now training to be selected for the school team.

This term, for PE the girls are introduced to softball. After 2 sesssions, the softball coach encouraged DD go join softball as a CCA and to train for the school team.

DD is kinda torn as she enjoys both.

Yes at the back of my mind there is the DSA possibility that is why I was curious about which CCA is better.

DD is short. That is a disadvantage in basketball. She is pretty agile but has problems putting the ball in the hoop. So I am wondering if softball may give her a better chance of making it into the school team to take part in tournaments. And well there is also the irrational thought that the softball uniform is cool. πŸ˜‰

Will talk to DD again and get her to find out how if she wants to switch from basketball to softball.
