Yes, kids can opt out from P3 onwards. The buddhist study for P1 and P2 is more like story telling of buddha. From a prince to buddha, etc... Also it focus more on values education. Which I personally feel the values part should apply to all regardless of religion. During my era, there are alot of non-buddhist in the school and btw, there are alot of teachers who are christian but teaching in MBS too.Twinkle stars:
Thanks for the prompt response! So the only buddhism teaching/exposure is during the buddhism lesson which the kids can opt out from P3 onwards? Am concerned cos my family is not buddhist.
Also want to ask if the school is confirmed going to fully single session in 2016? Anyone knows for sure?
thanks for the info! I agree with u that if its focused on values, be good to join in!

The kid stays in the same classroom while the buddhism lesson is conducted. the kid can choose to do his reading or work in the same classroom. must inform the form teacher beforehand. hope my info is correct. Any experienced parents here?, if i am wrong, pls correct me. thanks. -

I read the P1 Buddhist Studies text. There is no preaching involved. It is more like a simple account of how Buddhism came about and the fundamental philosophies. For non believers, you can take it as a history/cultural lesson. Good to know about other religions and understand the whys and hows of other religions.

The P1 book is quite interesting as it's like a story book...
Yah agree on exposure to different religions. After MBS, I went to a convent school and did bible knowledge for religious study. It's just another exposure... reading the story on Jesus. -

Isn't 2016 the deadline set by MOE for all schools to go single session? -
what is the highest PSLE score in Maha Bodhi ?
percentage scored > 250 ? -
lostbunny:
the deadline is for all government schools. Maha Bodhi is a government aided school and so they have more time to transit to single session. So just wondering when will their expansion project starting next year be completed and if it will be ready by 2016. Asking cos I thought of registering my girl there in 2016 but the session may kind of affect our decision...Twinkle stars:
