Hi,
If you are staying in woodland, the school of your choice is way out.
You might consider to read the forum under primary school ->registration where it has various post on the comments by parents.
From now till July, you can still do the reseach before deciding the school of your choice. -
Hi
imho, it’s better to choose a school nearer to your house.
dd is now at Rosyth P4. To travel from Woodlands to Serangoon North, we have to leave home quite early (due to traffic congestion). dd has to wake up much much earlier than if she had stayed on in her previous school in woodlands (p1-p3), which was just a 5 mins drive away. -
My words of advise to all parents staying outside 2km of Rosyth school…
chose a sch nearer your house…
Here is my story:-
My son got into Rosyth becos I’m old girls in Rosyth.
I’m staying in Tampines… (god!!!.. so so so many km away)
My son is P1(2010) in Rosyth…
The time travelling up and down is taking a toll on my poor boy…
every day… morning (7.15am - he hv problem of waking up n staying awake in the car as we drive him to student care… evening - he get into car 5mins he asleep, after bath or dinner, he could hardly keep his eye open after packing his sch bag, and the poor boy sleep without shifting position thru the night, so much so that it indicated to me, he is so competely exhuasted…
GOD… This is only the 1st week in school…
plus we chauffeur him ourself… its not as if he takes a sch bus or what!!!
I hope he can adapt to the change of new system (transition from pre-sch to Primary sch) and this new lifestyle now that he is P1…
and I’m hv so much feeling and guilt… about the journey (45mins - traffic jam at 2 spots)… his exhaustion… his sch work if he cont this exhaustion…
If worst comes to worst…
I might give up my present EA and down grade to a smaller unit nearby school… to sweep out my poor boy travelling and exhaustion…
I share this experience with all those parents staying outside and are thinking of renrolling into Rosyth…
I now very heart pain to see him suffer like this… and I hope it gets better and for worst.
Like all parents, i think you would feel the same too.
I’m not saying… u cannot reg your child in Rosyth… but do consider… the time… the travelling… the traffic jams… school work as he/she gets into P2, P3…P6
choose wisely… -

Just being a kpo here :lol:My words of advise to all parents staying outside 2km of Rosyth school...

I share the same view too especially after my eldest child is in P3 this year (not rosyth). The bus picks her up at 6.30am which is considered as \"decent\". In our case, kids study at ubi while we stay at hougang area so not that far. I told uncle that if the pick up time is 5plus then we will drop the idea of school bus. In the end, he offered me 6.30am
I do have a P4 nephew studying in Rosyth. They are staying in changi area and the bus picks him up at 5.45am (there about).... :!: That means he need to take up at 5am. To me, that's really early. I think Rosyth P3 is still afternoon session and they only start with morning session in P4. My impression. -
Just adding my name to the list. My son is in Rosyth P2 now, and his younger brother will be P1 next year (2011).

My dd was posted to Rosyth cos of GEP. So she's a new student there as well.
When registering for P1 a few yrs back, we opted for the school nearest to our house in Woodlands (5 mins drive away) tho we cld hv chosen Pei Chun (Toa Payoh), my former school.
My preference is a sch as near our house as possible to reduce travelling time. I'd rather dd has the extra bit of time to sleep/play/etc.
When dd was selected for GEP last Nov and decided she wanted to accept the offer, we told her to consider the nearest GEP school, Rosyth, instd of her original choice, RGPS, for the same reason. 'Nearest' being a relative term in this case as non of the GEP schools are very near Woodlands (why, MOE?? why ???).
We set off from home at 6.30 pm or earlier if it is raining and can reach Rosyth before 7 am. Any later, we will be stuck in the traffic jam. I am already lamenting if she had stayed on in her former school, we would hv been able to leave home past 7 am and therefore wake up much later.
At the end of the day, the choice of school for your kids is a personal decision with many factors to consider (school culture/SAP/distance/alma mater/mother tongue available/etc) ... just consider the possible tradeoffs and select what is best for them. -
