CCAs that recruit P1 students are volleyball, Chinese and International dances(girls only) and Chinese Orchestra(for certain instruments).

For volleyball and dances, the school SELECTS the students and invite them to join. These champion CCAs, not open to "public".

For volleyball, they learn to play it during their modCCA lessons, then there is some kind of test where the coach will pick out the potential players. Selection is in Term 3 and training starts in Term 4. Training for P1 and 2 is once a week for 2 hrs. It’s on weekday morning, 9:30 to 11:30am.

Heard from my neighbour whose dd is in Chinese dance, the girls were taught some dancing steps then they have to show it to the instructor (dun know what else they look for in the selection, sry).

For Chinese orchestra, all the P1 students will be given a invitation letter, in Term 3 (i think).

      Hope this helps.

Ya, we purchased the uniforms and some textbooks yesterday.

cpdalin, take heart, u are not the only one :). When buying uniform, there are many parents that return to change the size too. And all are changing to a size smaller bec I heard refund. I guess we all think (and hope) and children grow fast.

I was having so much headache decising the size of my DSs uniform too. The guy selling uniform was kind enough to tell me 2 things:
            1) According to his experience, P1 and P2 kids don't 'shoot' up so fast. P3/P4 kids will 'shoot' up fast. But he also has a disclaimer that this may be apply to 'fat' kids.
            2) Don't wash the uniform yet. Take them out in Dec and let your sons try again. If size not right, come back to change.
Really appreciate his thoughfullness. It didn't cross my mind.

As for the Chinese Moral Edu book, I was told that it is not required anymore. Creative Wring Book is out of stock.
            dark chocolate:
... I think the meals they provide are not really that fantastic, but there again, childcare is similar in this aspect too.

            Well, can't have a perfect place unless I become a SAHM! 😉
Hi, dark chocolate. I am going to start sahm next mth. I don't think I can provide fantastic meals at home too bec I am not good in cooking and can't spend all my time in the kitchen. I am ordering tingkat which is as good as coffee shop's economic rice.
However, the childcare that my triplets used to go to at Blk 729 provide good meals. They started BASC 2 years ago but I am not sure if they accept only kids from the childcare. You may want to call them to ask. They are fantastic in caring of children (like meals) but not acedamically. That's why I need to pull my DSs out from there to PCF for K2.
            alphonsus:
...So sorry nonkiasu, my boy refuses to give away his books(although the books are already in bad shape), I can't help on this.
Hi, alphonsus. Thanks and no worries. I think it may be too early to ask bec afterall, the school team is not over yet! By end Dec, I will go to 2nd hand bookshop at Bras Bahsa to take a look. Appreciate all your answers to our anxious to-be P1 mum.

Btw, I saw the Yun Yu textbooks. Oh mine, the very 1st page b4 the content page specifically instruct parents to teach b4 and after each lesson. Need to go thru 3 times b4 and 4 times after a lesson. This is really stressful! (so back to dark chocolate, where got time to cook? That means I have 21 times of lessons to do with my triplets!)

Also, there are 50 lessons with 25 lessons per book. But there are only 10 weeks per team and 40 weeks for the whole yr, including test/exam week. So, I just wonder how many lessons are done per week? If 2 lessons, then i will be short-lived bec I will have 42 times of lessons per week! :!:
Also, for the workbook to practise writing, will they be homework or done at school? If homework, I am thinking to start my DSs writing this Dec. Really, just looking at the content of textbook, I want to faint already.

Was going to drop a note to check how was the books and uniforms purchase yesterday, thanks for all the updates! 😉

cpdalin, nonKiasu - Did you bring your kids along to try out the uniforms? I didn't go yesterday because DS can't go with me, will go and buy on Fri instead. Will order the books online and collect on Fri as well.

nonKiasu - You mean every \"chapter\" need to go through 3 times before and 4 times after the lesson? I wonder if going through means to be able to read or to be able to write also?

Think better not let your kids write first though, in case it includes writing in class, which then they will be bored while waiting for other classmates to finish writing?

nonKiasu - SAHM is a noble role and definitely worthwhile since you have triplets! 😉 Thks for the info at Blk 729, I think I will try out SW first and see how it goes. Will be dropping by SW after orientation on Fri to find out more.

Yes, each of my DSs tried out the uniforms and PE. I bought 2 sets of uniform and 2 sets of PE for each DS. I do see people 'ah-gar ah-gar' the size and buy and later go back and change for a smaller size bec its a refund. The each size jump is 50cents. I think most people staying nearby and for whatever reason, the kid can't be there to try.

Yes, must go thru every chapter 3 times b4 lesson. After lesson revise 2 times and another 2 times read without seeing the text. U will see the instruction once u buy the book. I am still in the state of shock. Want to be nonKiasu also cannot!

Ya, will not start the writing if it is suppose to write in class. So, wanted to find out whether it's homework or do in class.

Ya, let us know after u try SW for a few mths. Maybe I need a BASC too if I can't tahan being a sahm or the 21/42 times per week of chinese lessons with my DSs and rather return to workforce to earn $$ so as to employ chinese tutor to go thru w them. This Yun Yun thingy is really very discouraging to me. When I was studying, my parents don't even know what I am doing at school, studying or not etc. I know we can't compare our primary edu to today's but the gap is really tian and di.

nonKiasu - Sure, will update all about SW. If all ok, I will let DS start from Dec onwards so that he can adjust to SC first, then PCS. Are your triplets currently taking any enrichment classes? Actually, even with a tutor, you will still need to be very hands-on with their work coz the tutor can't come everyday and won't be able to cover everything for 3 kids at one go?

Do you have a helper? I can't imagine working FT and then returning home to take care of 3 kids + chores! 😐
