      Ladies & Gentlemen,
Newbie here.As attached file,Shall i know the cedar primary school would be increase the seat place for SG50(2015 children)? especially soon 2020 the Alkaff lakeview,Alkaff Oasis & Alkaff courtview BTO would be ready move in.I am not sure what was plan for the SG50 mummies and daddies to choose the favorite primary school(within 1 km) if they move into Bidadari units.
In addition, anyone knows what's the future structure plan for cedar primary school? Thanks in advanced.

You would have to monitor the stats starting from the year when the flat owners qualify to register their kids. Cedar has been suffering from falling enrollment due to lack of young households nearby, but possibly in future if the demand ramps up they might increase the number of classes per cohort?

Also, for the boys, are Maris Stella and St Andrew's within 1km of the Bidadari flats? If so, those schools may absorb some of the demand, leaving only the girls aiming for Cedar.

Thanks for respond,My priority selection is standard level of school(including co-curriculum,like badminton or music + exam results) as my eldest SG50 child is girl.As checked the distance of Bidadari areas, within 1 km primary school for girl is cedar only and for other TPY area primary schools are over 1 km.Thinking its might be less chances to enter those higher reputation schools if we bid it.

With the merger of Cedar Primary with MacPherson Primary in 2019, Cedar primary will be in greater demand this year. Anyone can provide more information about this merger as i just realise about it?

Anyone can advice SG50 children(borned in 2015) could be allow to select the cedar Primary school or not as i will collect the Bidadari house key in end of 2020 (within 400m- priority school seat)? Thanks in advanced

Both Cedar and MacPherson suffer from falling enrollment as they are situated in an aging and small-ish estate with a small catchment area. With Bidadari estate coming up, there could be a small surge in enrollment but it is unlikely to change the dynamics much, as parents are still more likely to choose the more popular schools as their first choice.

As for questions on address used for P1 registration, you should refer to MOE FAQ as the topic has been covered in great details.

No, there isn't any red cross in Cedar primary. There isn't any uniform groups in Cedar.

Since the thread's more or less dead now, I thought since I've graduated from Cedar recently, I could share what I know with any parents who wants to know about the school through this thread. To be fair, I wasn't the talented ones so I can't really share any personal experience about Cedar's talent management model, though I do have two close friends who were involved (two of the girls whose pictures are put up on the website)

For CCAs, there really isn't much of a choice. There were about 10 CCAs (which is a lot for a small school like Cedar) with two being invitation-only CCAs (unless you're invited to join them, you're not allowed to join that CCA.). I joined the infocomm club when it was created in 2016.

For the teachers teaching there, I must say without them, I would not have done as well in my PSLE (though my score wasn't really high) I took up higher chinese since primary two. For my primary five and six's higher chinese teacher, I felt that she really made me do the best I could for my higher chinese examination although I did not study for that subject during PSLE.

Everyone's primary five and six's higher chinese teacher will be the same so long as the teacher I'm talking about does not retire. For primary five, she would continuously let us write compositions during extra classes and it really worked, my results were a lot higher at the end of the year compared to the start of the year. At primary six, that was when things got a little tough. She would make us memorize 2 A4 pages of composition and then let us write it out word for word. I really hated it. But it also worked!

I was that kid who didn't study for any of her tests but fortunately, thanks to the help from all of my teachers, (especially primary five and six's teachers, because my results improved a lot from primary four. i was borderline passing all of my subjects except chinese in primary four.) I did better than I expected.

My memories of my friends in Cedar are definitely memorable. Somehow, I mingled with the smart kids so I always ended up ranking last among them. I am very glad that they did not make fun of me (because some smart kids would do so) but instead, helped me. It doesn't feel good to be called dumb just because my results weren't ideal.

Overall, I felt that Cedar was a good school for me. Although I will be moving on to secondary school now, I will definitely not forget my mother school.

For my cohort, I think 2 girls (in my friends group) went to Cedar girls, 1 went to RGS, there was one girl who scored 267 but I do not know where she is right now, 2 girls & me went to chung cheng high main & 3 boys went to victoria.

Sorry for the long post! :imsorry:

                  Hi

I am one of those first batch going to move to Bidadari estate. As i am new to the area and new singaporean i believe for a girl, cedar primary would be the nearest option? Both husband and i are working too, so we will be putting our girl at student care. Is there any recommendation for student care from expert? Thanks a bunch ๐Ÿ™‚
