To parents whose boys are in MS: do they need to carry many books and files each day? or are most of the books left in school?

Asking in view of a suitable schoolbag.

My kid's bag is quite heavy despite the locker and all. Besides the Math and Chinese textbooks and some exercise books, they still need to bring the Marist Buddy (notebook), a hard A4 file, and sometimes a few other folders. If your kid needs to go to student care, then you need to think of the extra clothes he must bring. The Popular Bookshop ergo bag is big enough.

Thanks Cherrygal! Will bear that in mind when shopping for his school bag.

              Hi,

I would like to know if the boys start having homework in Primary 1? How’s the workload and do they need to take exams?

My boy is in P1 this year. The homwork is manageable. There are days with no homework at all. Most of the work were completed in school. So if your son is absent for a few days, you can imagine the amount of work he has to do in order to catch up. If you have started giving your son simple work to do, you shouldn’t worry too much. Is your son entering P1 in 2012?

They have to take exam but there will be various form of assessment (like show-n-tell) throughout the year.

If parents send their kids to sch, where can they let the boy alight? any sch volunteer to chauffeur the boys into the assembly area?

the catered food is still bad??

The assembly is held outside their classroom. If you are sending your son, there are 2 dropoff points inside the school. One is near the guardpost, sheltered (I used it when it was raining). The other is by the side of the road. One of the guards will be there to ensure that the boys keep to the side.

There are no more complaints regarding the food. If your DS is fussy with his food, then u may want to pack the food yourself. Every Monday, my DS will only eat 1/3 of the lunch. We can only pack food for recess but not lunch. No time to do it. So we hope he will feel hungry and learn to eat whatever he is given.
