The assembly is held outside their classroom. If you are sending your son, there are 2 dropoff points inside the school. One is near the guardpost, sheltered (I used it when it was raining). The other is by the side of the road. One of the guards will be there to ensure that the boys keep to the side.

There are no more complaints regarding the food. If your DS is fussy with his food, then u may want to pack the food yourself. Every Monday, my DS will only eat 1/3 of the lunch. We can only pack food for recess but not lunch. No time to do it. So we hope he will feel hungry and learn to eat whatever he is given.

                Hi Parents

Anyone know about the academic standard of MSHS? heard that their standard has drop as compare to last time( many many years ago…). Is it true? I would hope to hear more sharing of information of this school to decide if i should register my child in this school.

Hope someone can advise and share with me. I heard the school teachers of MSHS turnover rate is very high… and the PSLE entrance score to MSSH is also average only for a SAP standard.

As compared to those school under Hokkien huay Kuan is the school standard lower than them?

My child is not yet in MS… but other parents with kids there told me the school is rather academically driven. I was also told the teachers are generally dedicated, especially the older ones.

You can check up on the school’s past year PSLE performances and compare it with other schools you have in mind.

My DS is in P1 this year. I must say that his chinese teacher is very dedicated. I geve her the credit for helping my DS to achieve very good grade in his CL. Most importantly, he is also interested in learning CL.

I am sure most schools are academically driven. The PSLE standard will rise and drop every year. It is common. No school can produce top students consistently every year (the criteria for it to be considered top school). I'm a teacher in a secondary school and I can tell you those students coming from the neighbourhood schools are generally more academic driven than those students from the affiliated secondary school. I think you should find out more about school culture. This is the most important factor in we choosing MSH for DS.

As for MSH (Secondary), its results is improving. One of the award it received this year is the Sustained Achievement Award (Academic Value-added) (Special/Express). So you can see that it is adding value to the students. So if u r concerned about affiliation, the COP for 2011 is 227 (for affiliation) and 231 (for non-affiliation). It is in Band 3 in the annual ranking. Not bad in my opinion. But then again, that is like 5-6 years down the road. Things (like expectation) can change. 🙂
