          Hi,Obisana

I am DD daddy, my girl is in P1 Zeal too. Btw, dear parents, I have notice for children taking the school bus home. Some children is not sitting down with their seat belt buckle up and can see some children walking around in the bus when is moving. Some bus operator do not have assistance and the bus driver did not make sure the children have their seat belt buckle up.

Please advise your DD to seat and not move around when the bus is moving, This is very dangerous. Hope the school principal and teacher do highlights to our DD on this issue.
          Hi winzky66,
Glad to know some parent from 1 zeal ๐Ÿ˜“

Sharing a tip with parents. You can colour code the timetable. Photocopy the timetable of your dd. Use colour pencils to colour in the boxes. I use the following colours:

            Spelling - Dark blue

            English - Light blue

            Math - Red

            Mother Tongue Chinese - Purple

            Music - Pink

            PE/HE -Yellow

FTGP (Form Teacher Guidance Time) - Orange

            Modular Curriculum - Grey

            Social Studies - Brown

            Values Education - Golden

CME (Civics & Moral Education) - White (basically no need to colour in white)

            Recess - Beige

            Art & Craft - Green

Do note that the colour of subject files are red file for math, blue file for English, purple file for Chinese, green for art bag, pink file for music and CME file is white.

That is how I colour code the timetable for easier reference in case of days when the child is required to bring subject files for lesson if necessary. It will help the child to be more organized and take responsibility for packing her own bag.

Explain to the child what the colour code means and if you like, photocopy another timetable from the original, let the child add in the colour using colour pencils by referring to the coloured timetable that was done earlier. It will be an interesting activity. ๐Ÿ˜„

Other parents with children from other schools reading this post may like to consider this idea of mine.

                  Hi jesyeo,

My girl is also in P1 Integrity, I'm her daddy.
Nice to read all the headaches that parents have in this forum, at least I know what's going on with all the materials given by the teachers, now.

                  1) how do you know spelling starts on 14 Jan?
                  2) I told my girl to ask teacher when she will be getting back all her work for English, she says she will be getting them back this Friday. At least we parents know what our girls are doing in school.
                  3) my girl told me that she is doing handwriting for English since yesterday, now is letter D (I think).

                  Btw, what does DD mean?

24 Jan Friday will be P1/P2 Parents' Briefing. Most probably will be held in the morning between 9.15am to 11.30am. The principal will address the parents in hall before the parents proceed to respective classrooms of our daughters to meet form teacher and subject teachers. Most likely this briefing will be about the Holistic Assessment that will take place in Feb/Mar. 1st term no marks will be taken into account. Most likely, the parents' briefing form details will be given out earliest this Friday or next week.

At Primary 1, there will be more bite-sized forms of assessments to build pupils' confidence and desire to learn. Teachers will use a range of assessment tools, including written and performance tasks to enable them to provide feedback to pupils on their mastery of concepts and skills. These assessments will be spaced out appropriately so that pupils will not be overwhelmed. Termly feedback will be provided on each pupil's development to provide a more complete picture of their achievement and progress. At P1 level, Term 1 is Nil. Term 2: 30%. Term 3: 30%. Term 4: 40%. Total: 100%.

At the end of P1, all pupils will be promoted en-bloc to P2. Pupils with specific needs may be re-grouped.

At the end of P2, placement into top 2 classes for following year P3 is ranked by merit and cut-off will be at the maximum enrolment for each of the top 2 classes. After allocation of the top 2 classes, the remaining pupils will be randomly placed into the rest of the mixed-ability classes.

If any parents need more info regarding Holistic Assessment, please go to http://parents-in-education.moe.gov.sg/primary-education/what-and-how-will-my-child-be-assessed/holistic-assessment
