Does anyone of you receive email for successful PV yet?

i think suppose to let us know first week of Jan 2021, but i have not receive anything, so i think i cannot get in.

      Hi,
Does anyone knows how many PV the school accepts for child born in 2016? I am planning to register my child under 2B and this year's 2B results were shocking 😐[/quote]Chongfu is a SHHK affiliated school.

Phase 2B isn't just about the number of PV the school accepts, there's also the number of members that have signed up under SHHK that you would need to consider (not to mention the number of applicants under the GRL scheme).

If you consider that last year Chongfu had 45 applicants in Phase 2B, 52 applicants this year isn't shocking. Also, if you only consider the 5 SHHK schools, their numbers are 38 for 20, 52 for 34, 45 for 43, 88 for 62 and 57 for 20. Chongfu numbers are right about the middle.

There were 20 PVs for children born in 2016 selected from 100 over applicants. Need to plan early if it’s for 2017 babies. GRL and SHHK’s submissions for members may already be closed now. For the school PVs, the submission usually starts in Aug to Oct.

I am a mom who has 2 kids in this school. There really isn't anything I would recommend about Chongfu. The perception that it is a 'good school' is so outdated in my opinion, since principals and teachers have changed over the years, and schools no longer publish their PSLE results, so how do you know/define/qualify/quantify it as a 'good school'? Everytime I mentioned that my kids are from Chongfu, I get the \"wah.. 名校\". This term \"名校\" , comes with alot of pains such as super heavy homework load (everyday man, non-stop drilling especially on maths, weekends are burnt on homework, it's really sad) and difficult exam papers (especially mathematics). It's exam period now, my kids are still assigned homework! Where got time for revision..

In terms of CCA choices, like for sports, the selection is not fantastic at all (no basketball, no badminton), they do not even have choir. Teachers turnover rate is quite high. Teaching quality, I am so not impressed at all, especially their CL dept teachers.. Be prepared really for tuitions in order to survive/do well in this school. For languages (EL & CL), the time dedicated to teaching compo/oral is not alot, but these are substantial components at PSLE. They don't even do Oral at Mid-Year exam. They only do Oral at End Year Exams. Two compos for one semester then you are on your own to take the compo exam.

It's really not as fantastic as how many perceive the school to be. We have friends who wanted to do parent volunteer just to get a chance at this school, we often advised against it and asked them not to waste time.
Just to add on to your sharing.

To most parents, CF is just another branded school in Yishun , especially for those who have alumni or Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan connections to enrol their children into the school.

Bearing in mind that by sending your child to a so called top school in Yishun will not grant your child the desired AL marks you hope your child to achieve at the end of the 6 years education. If your child has a lower ability to cope academically, you can expect a steeper learning curve for your child.

Providing last minute tuition for your child may end up wasting your money if you do not get a qualified and highly experienced private tutor.

Personally, through my connection, I know of a few children in CF who are extremely weak in their academics. Would they do better if they have gone to another neighbourhood school ? Maybe.

If you are choosing a school for your child, choose one not for the name but one that your child can flourish in.

It’s not the end of the world even if your child cannot enter CF during P1 registration. Lastly, seek help for your child, be it early interventions or academic tuition as early as possible. Seeking last minute help at P6 is too late.

                ...
Thank you. I agree with your sharing. Essentially, how good a school is depends very much on the quality of the students it receives. The general thinking is: good schools will attract good students, so if I get into a \"good\" school, my child will have a chance to interact with \"good\" students and teachers and hence become \"good\".

There's nothing wrong with this thinking, except that such thinking will ultimately drive schools to become more and more elitist, and it leaves out the possibility of really good students/teachers getting into \"average\" schools. I still remember several years ago, Qifa suddenly had the top scorer in PSLE and after that, interest in the school increased tremendously.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter if we think a school is \"good\" or \"average\". We know that MOE will provide the necessary support to ALL schools which will sit for the same final exam. It is up to the individual to excel. The school will merely bask in its students' glory.

The biggest question is: does the school and other circumstance provide the impetus for the student to WANT to do well? The answer is really as varied as the total number of students in the country.

CFS ballot < 1km for Phase 2B in 2022 and 2021, and 1-2km in 2020. I think the trend is indicative of the competitiveness for getting into CFS. If the numbers for Phase 1 and Phase 2A are going to be high, and if there are many Phase 2B applicants < 1km, you will most likely be out of the running.

My suggestion would be to plan for Phase 2C and an alternative as your chance is going to be very low.
