Agreed!Oooohhh... Very chim.... Don't really understand their strategy.....
Perhaps the only way to know is when they are in P3 (based on P2 results) Those got 1st - 10th position will be allocated to the 2 best classes. By then we will know what are the classes.
For P1, let's not bother about which class they are in. The most important is their results. Even if they are in the worst class, but they score well in their results, they will be streamed to best classes when gg to P3.

hi, wonder if any parents have same issue/concern as me?
i didnt know CF offers higher chinese since P1 (Oops wat a blur mummy) until 2 weeks ago, hahaahh… how much does the kid needs to know hypy and reading by P1?
i speak mandarin to my boy since he is born, but when i involves ‘preaching/scolding/explainations’, i will do it in english (as i am more comfortable). he can understand mandarin but dun speak.
aiyo, any advice? is the environmt in CF chinese-friendly? any parent used to be in the same position as me, yet the kid survived the chinese or started to speak mandarin after attending CF?
Thanks -
I have the same concern like you. My girl totally rejects mandarin. I am going to let her swim or sink. She has to understand mandarin is important in primary school through the hard way then.
-
Hey,
Dont let her sink...its no joke.
Sent her to berries to enrich or any enrichment centre.I invested good seven years for my dd, and she has great foundation.
At lower pri , its the best time to build the foundation, when comes to upper pri, basically no time.
Just one cent of my thought.
Cheers

I agree with Joy that lower primary is the best time to build up the foundation. You will see the benefits in the long run.

Joy,
Did u revise Chinese with your dd before her next lesson starts?
I have sent my girl to Berries since Mid K1. And even revise with her twice a week before her next lesson. However I noticed that my girl has no talent is her Mandarin. There are still many common words which she still cannot read or remember.
Can you share on how do you teach your girl to memorise the words after each lesson?

I have compared the book of Normal Chinese and Higher Chinese, the only difference is a few more topics covered in Higher Chinese with is not learn in normal Chinese. -
anyone has signed up their 2011 P1 kids for the CCAs in Chongfu?
My girl is interested in the Chinese Dance club but how can I sign her up for the Chinese Dance club? The Chinese Dance club I saw at the Orientation needs to pay $ and it’s on weekend so I am not sure if that’s the school one or some vendor trying to sell the enrichment program?
Any advice? -
Imp75,
I think CCA is only sign up when school reopens.
During the orientation, the school did mention that every Tuesday, the children need to be in school at 10.00am cos they have activities arranged for them such as inline skating, Wushu (can’t remember all). Aren’t these considered as CCA?
Means apart from the Tuesday activity, the child has to sign up for additional activity as CCA?
Any current CF mummies can advise? -

These are enrichment for P1 and P2 students, not CCA. We need to pay for it, using edusave. It is compulsory.

do we sign up for CCA only when school reopens?
I hate to cut my girls’ hair just to conform to the silly rule of short hair for non-dancing girls!
