Not all schools offer the famine programme. Is a camp where the students will experience how is it like without food for a period of time, to allow them to understand how the children in less developed countries feel when they are in starvation. I know Ngee Ann Poly does have this prog.
Hi I think you're mistaken. It's not offered by schools, it's offered by an organisation. You only need your school's permission to take part (because sometimes it's on a weekday where you actually supposed to go to school). -
Hi my son went for the cca trials and got into ‘shooting’. Is shooting a good sport? Not sure if we should appeal for tennis? He was short listed but did not get in tho he took tennis lessons for 2 years but mediocre.

Sorry, as I heard this programme from a friend who participated in it, so I was npt thoroughly clear about the details. But if I am not wrong, the participamt does need to bear the cost of the camp fee right if one goes? Since I heard from my friend that for her case, it is her poly that bears the full cost of the camp.
Yup there's a fee, and when my friends went they paid themselves...Skyed:

A lot of comparison for UG and clubs. How about sports cca. Easy to score cca points?

Thanks! I read somewhere on this forum that not getting good points for cca might affect your chances at getting into popular faculties at university level. The person quoted an example of a student who couldn’t get into medicine even tho he got straight As for his academic results, bcos he wasn’t actively involved in cca (which implied that he didn’t get good grades for his cca).
If the above is true, then it means that you still need to do well in a cca no matter which path you take, O level or IP?
That may be true in the past, but in recent years, NUS med has been accepting students who are just members in their cca, no leadership, no CIP, medals etc. On top of that, you don’t need straight As, there are several cases of students with Bs (GP or H2 subjects) and even Cs in GP getting accepted into the faculty.
A number of my daughter’s classmates with straight As and excellent cca records have been rejected by Nus med.
Why? -
They put applicants through a screening, interview, selection process to try to look for the right profile. Many straight As students were rejected as they may not be seen to be "suitable".

Has anyone registered your child for external CCAs rather than those offered by school?
