he prolly took into his calculations dat oppo parties will not be able to sort out among themselves on short notice, thereby ending up with a multi corner fight to dilute d votes n will favour d incumbent party. Also take some heat off d AHTC-AIM-MIW issues. -
yup call in fast before more worms coming out of the tins

concern2:
me think dis question was asked of BKY.
I wonder if there's ever been intention to reveal to the public about AIM being wholly owned by the PAP if not for this incident. I mean, I had this \"PA is not PAP!!\" shoved in my face by a grassroot volunteer during the last GE
Yeah, yeah, isn't it obvious, the name's different - there's one 'P' short.
It is more like the less people know, the better...cos if you don't ever know, you won't ever ask. Why even mention it to invite unnecessary questioning?
So, yes, there it goes - which other similar companies are there under PAP?
cannot now find his reply on his FB account now - prolly deleted.
but found dis posted on dis link:http://www.singapolitics.sg/news/tan-cheng-bock-baey-yam-keng-weigh-aim-saga

Tampines GRC MP Baey Yam Keng, at his Facebook chat on Sunday night
“I know there are naturally concerns if there is a conflict of interest or whether residents’ money (Service & Conservancy Charges) have been misused. However, we should also look at the industry practice of managing IT systems, whether Aim has failed in its commitment to the TCs, and if the fees it has been collecting have been unreasonable...
People might be reading too much into things and are drawn into some political motivations. However, we cannot forget that TCs are all political organisations...
PCF (PAP Community Foundation) is the community arm of PAP, and it runs kindergartens and childcare centres. I don’t think just because the directors are former MPs, the company is owned by PAP. There are MPs, both PAP and opposition parties, who have their own companies, it doesn’t mean these companies belong to the parties.
It is open knowledge that Aim is owned by PAP. I was referring to other companies owned by PAP and clarifying that just becos the company directors are PAP members, it does not necc mean that they are PAP-owned companies. As to the no. of companies owned by PAP, I am afraid I do not have the info. I do not know of any others.
I am sure more light will come out of the Aim fiasco. But I know there are many $2 companies around, it does not mean they are all fly-by-night companies.”
u understand d part he said in bold? -
Way2GO:
Yes, probably these reasons. Before he said there are national priorities that are more important than a by-election to take care of and now he said they can be put aside. Now you can see how politicians sing different tunes for different situations to suit their best interests.

Translation of bolded part:
Don't ask me. I don't know. You think they tell us everything they do? -
pirate:
Well, I still think you are.
No, I am not. \"I never denied doing this\" is a poor excuse when the reason why I never denied is because nobody asked me, and nobody asked me because nobody knew.3Boys:
pirate, I think you are splitting hairs. The MIW have never denied that AIM was owned by the party. WP was in no doubt either, so why the issue now?
If you are arguing that the MIW did not make a big public announcement through the press at the point of appointing AIM to manage the TC's software (in the name of transparency), then I think the expectation is not reasonable.
What the WP knew is irrelevant. What is relevant is what was disclosed to the public.
I don't expect MIW to make a big public announcement to the press at the point of appointing AIM to manage the TC's software. However, I do expect a disclosure statement in the TC's annual reports or financial statements.
Something along the lines of, \"The Town Council has agreed to sell and lease back the Town Council's share of its managment software to AIM. AIM is a company wholly owned by the PAP, of which all the elected members of the Town Council are also members\" will suffice.
And all this huge righteous outrage is over the fact that the TC did not disclose a known fact, one that was known to the opposition party to which it affected the most, and known to anyone who would have been willing to dig a little?
All this when there are tons of far more significant conflicts of interest out there with much potential impact than a 140k piece of accounting software?
More than splitting hairs, I think it's a witch hunt...... -

Yes.. indeed..
All this when there are tons of far more significant conflicts of interest out there with much potential impact than a 140k piece of accounting software?
And that's what the public is concerned about. AIM is the beginning of breaking discoveries.. The public must learn to keep their eye open bigger than before.. and ponder carefully once every 5 years..
