Next round should up the property tax on such properties. We prefer rich folks investing their money in other areas and not hogging space and parking their money by buying up properties and leaving them vacant in land-scarce Singapore. Heard from property agents there are plenty around..... not renting out.

Number of cars are governed by the number of coe. There wont be lesser cars on the road

so does it equate to lesser cars? :scratchhead:

or lesser japanese cars but more luxurious cars ?

Don't be surprise on how rich those buyer is. 😛

Although with such sky high COE, a number of my manager and bosses keep changing car. :censored:

I doubt there will have a reduce of car. Maybe reduce abit of COE price only. 😛

well i'm quite disappointed how they control the number of cars on the road 😞

only the rich will get to drive.

they never take into consideration for family who needs car:
                    http://ride.asiaone.com/features/opinion/story/offer-coe-rebates-families-special-needs-members

I was hoping new system to have something like first-car ownership per household. Pay higher COE for 2nd car.

I thot govt will review the COE system. what's the purpose of having Cat A and B which is only $4K difference and they are almost $100K (last month figures).

                    sigh...

                        i agree with the article

Have a separate COE category for luxury cars.

many people need a car for their livelihood
DH needs to drive a car for his sales job and delivery
it will be near impossible to work in his line w/o a car

we have 2 young kids schooling and the travel distance is abt 20min-30min by car. (you may ask why study so far, we cant get into a school near my place). school bus is way too exp, the last i heard 2 yrs ago is $125 per child for 1 way trip from school to my house. i’ve got 2 kids, that works out to $250 per month including school holidays. this also excluding the extra charges of $5 per trip if they stay back in school for remedial or CCA, and take a latter timing bus back.
it will be cheaper for them to take a cab back home infact. but they are way too young for public transport.
i really hope Garment can look into the genuine cases of owning a car.
