I personally feel this is up to your child?
SJI vs SST. Both \"O\" Levels.

My boy had said that if he only got SST dsa offer, then he would go for SST instead of his current affiliated sec school, which is also O-levels but a top sch.
His reasoning was that it's simply bc the curriculum at SST would certainly be way more interesting. That's a thought for you. But it would help if your child is more decisive and knows what he wants. For us, I doubt there would be any chance of us swaying his own views.
Hope that helps! -
For me, the choice depends on which is the prefered route to university - thru poly or thru A levels.
SST is tied up with Ngee Ann Poly and the poly route seems better defined for them. While they state that going to A levels is an option, today there is little applied subjects at A level.
SJI on the other hand is a top O level performer and going to A levels from this school seems more likely. -
Jenn:
I actually don't see all that many applied subjects at SST either. Maybe 2 or 3? The rest are the usual academic subjects. So I'm sure the child will have no problem adapting to classes eventually in a JC if they've done well at O-levels and decide to go on to JC.For me, the choice depends on which is the prefered route to university - thru poly or thru A levels.

And in fact, I think with the smaller class sizes and innovative teaching ways, the children might adapt to JC life's lecture-tutorial system quite easily. -
Hi All Good Fellas,
Thank you very much.

Dear parents, supporters, friends and fellow Josephians
SJI Integrated Programme (IP) Stream Proposal
As you are aware, SJI has submitted an IP stream proposal to MOE in June 2008. Under the proposal, SJI will offer a 6-year through-train programme for eligible students, in addition to the current O level stream.
In response to queries from many of you in the past few months on the status of the proposal, I would like to inform you that active discussions between MOE and SJI to sort out the details of the proposal are ongoing. This is necessary before the proposal can be approved for implementation by SJI.
In a recent letter to SJI, MOE has noted that SJI is a school with a long tradition and is committed to offering a high quality education to its boys. MOE also said that based on the profile of boys that SJI takes in, our proposed dual-track model, where both GCE ‘O’ levels and IP tracks are offered, is appropriate. I hope you appreciate that I am not at liberty to disclose anything more at this stage. I am, however, confident that SJI will be able to conclude the discussion with MOE latest by the middle of next year.
Thank you once again for your support for SJI.
Yours sincerely,
NOEL HON

Based on the reply posted on the SJI website, regarding their IP pgm status, does it look like SJI is almost successful in getting an IP pgm??
Should one base the school choice of SJI, hoping to get into their IP pgm ??? I am in a fix as my boy can surely get into SJI and if SJI will get a 6 yr pgm by next yr, it would be perfect for him. Any insights from the grapevines ???
