PSLE 2009 RESULTS!!

Muffins:
I joked with my son when he came home yesterday that since his PSLE is over, he can start preparing for his O levels. He said I was crazy, so I should change my name to CrazyMumCrazyDad:
Before the result come out, it is time to practice math for secondary school.
Hi CrazyDad,
I think studying for secondary school may be a good option, actually.
However, don't you think that your child deserves a break from all the preparation and studying for the PSLE? Maybe it would be better to ask your child when he/she would like to start studying for sec. school? If he/she wants to start studying now, that is his/her choice. As it is his/her decision which sec. school he /she wants to go to, I think it should be his/her decision when he/she wants to start studying for it. One advantage of studying now is that he/she can get a headstart in his/her academics and can do better in school, but it really depends on when he/she wants to start. If he/she doesn't want to start now, but is forced into it, he/she might not be able to concentrate, so that becomes a waste of time, just talking about something he/she is not listening to. So I think you should ask him/her when he/she wants to start!
Of course he's enjoying his break now but I've to prepare my students for their SA2.
BTW, it's a good idea to let them prepare for secondary school after a good break. In fact, I've students complaining that they were bored 1 month after their PSLE. -
yes, although my ds is not taking PSLE this year, I also had been reading the posting here and I share the anxiety of parents and children. Anyway, itβs all overβ¦good luck to all and time to enjoy but still I guess cannot over enjoy too!

I hope our children can all get good results! If not all their efforts would be wasted!

Hi tutormum (CrazyMum!),
Students are bored? AFTER PSLE? In my whole life, I would have never actually thought of hearing this sentence. Anyway, your son might have been a little freaked out when you started talking about O levels. Don't think so far yet, he might be able to get into IP and his O levels would not need to be taken, right?!
You are right about preparing students for secondary school but they should be relaxed and want to study for it, otherwise it will have no effect whatsoever on them. It would go in one ear and come out the other.
Just like a pedometer on backwards roll, the day of judgement draws closer and closer....

No need lah. Sec 1 is chicken feat compared to PSLE. The children will be wondering why they were subjected to such torture then. -
Since Maths paper is tough, maybe this year there is chance for top student to be a boy.

I totally agree, cuz it seems that usually boys are better at Maths & Science while girls are better at English and Chinese. It actually also affects the overall score for PSLE. English over 100, Maths over 50, Mother Tongue over 100,Science over 50.

Yes, I agree. But in the year 2007, the Math and Science were tough too and the Top student is . . . a girl who scored 294. :!:
Whatever, girl or boy, lets enjoy with our kids first.
Study first (now over), enjoy next and results last.
Wish every child's PSLE result will be fantastic
And for now . . . play. . .play. . . and play . . .just stay relax :celebrate: -

Maths was tough but Science was very simple. According to some people that is... And from what I've seen too, it looks very easy to me...
