Just had a bad experience with DHS.
I had yet to submit my DS application as I was not sure whether we need to submit the IRS report as I read from rosyth school that DHS wants the report. Furthermore, My DS’ IRS project was selected for exhibition, but the school gave me only 1 copy of the final report, which he may need to bring for interview as part of his personal portfolio.
So I called DHS to find out so I can go bind another set if they want it. But the person in charge was so rude. With a frustrated tone, she kept saying she does not know what IRS is … what I m talking about.
With such rude staff, I’m skeptical over the kind of students they’ll produce.
It was unlike HCI who answered my queries politely and ensure that my doubts are clarified. -
Hello, just wondering if anyone has received notification by HCI regarding shortlisting under Sports domain? Thanks

We also had a bad encounter with DHS office staff. We had wanted to submit the documents required for DSA and our son has put them nicely into a clear holder file. The staff looked annoyed and told us with a not so nice tone to remove all contents from the file as they did not want the file. We politely explained to her that the contents were quite thick and we did not have any binder clips or so with us to clip them together. She then answered in a cold tone that she will just staple them together. Hubby and I had no choice but to remove them page by page and watch in dismal as she tried to staple them together and put it in a box. We were very sure that the staple will fall off. After that bad encounter with the staff, we left wondering if we really want our son to be in that school.Just had a bad experience with DHS.

We did not have problem submitting our son's portfolio with other schools. -

To me, IP school is not just about bypassing the O level; IP school is more for enriched curriculum using the time freed up from O level drills, save some stress and focus more on learning and educating rather than exams drilling. They can prove their ability in the day to day school work.
But the diff is IP schools by-pass 'O' level and have more time for programmes to develop the students rather than spend time drilling them for 'O' level which may be a waste of time to these kids.
I have one child each in IP school and non-IP school. The curriculum is a world apart. -

to add on, the other end of \"scale\" also has students being offered places in Ivy league unis even before they sit for A level......hahaha
From the newspaper reports on Poly students, seems like quite a few also go in from RI or HCI. No problem - they just use their school results to apply after Sec 4. So, their school results are recognised too, even though they don't have O-levels. These are the \"opt-outs\" from the IP system.ngbrdad:
I always have this worry that if a student performs badly at A level in a IP programme, there is nothing to fall back on. Not even an O level. And if a students went thru DSA may not even have a good PSLE score to fall back on.
At least for IB 30% is based on daily work and NUSH is the modular system.
So in situation that an unfortunate event just before A level exam affects a student's result tremendously, what can the student do next ? -

I think I know why DS's school the average for SAI is so low cos they add in social studies and divide by 5.
it does not matter, the DSA school knows how to adjust it -

Yes. For now, RI chapter is closed since we completed both GAT and interview. We are awaiting results of HCI shortlisting.Publica:
