And that Sheldon Tan also has Diploma in both Piano & Violin!!! And he's so cute compared to that top scorer compatriot of his. ๐Ÿ˜œ

I found him v cute too with a charming smile.. Read from newspaper his mum got phd?... He is my ds idol ๐Ÿ˜‰

His mum was PSLE top scorer during her year. Also o-level, or something like that, I think.[/quote]So good genes play a part too ๐Ÿ˜‰. Wait till my DS hear this, he's gonna tell me if he doesn't do as well, it is due to our genes :frustrated:

Hi blur dad, did your friends ds with sa 79.x and maths award eventually get into ri from wait list status? My ds same case above 79.5 below 80 with platinum snips and grade 8 piano achieved two years back. Looks like he will be on waitlist. I will prepare him for waitlist status after the interview. But would like to know chance if on wait list. His p5 was 83%. Thanks

        Hi RSS

Don't worry, I have not finished the 2nd part of the story yet.

Yes, my friend's DS has placed RI-WL as his 1st choice in the DSA form(not sure what is the form call), eventually got into RI. Only knew the result on the day when he received the PSLE result. I guess due to his DS result was in high end of 79.x%, therefore his WL ranking is very high, would be the first few to consider when someone give up the place. While one of his DS classmate, who score was lower then him, also on WL but did not get into RI even he selected RI-WL as first choice.

Base on your DS result and awards, I guess he stands a very good chance to get into RI. Not to worry....

        All the best.

The German language is indeed a nice language to pick up.
Vlim, your DS may be right about Latin as well. Spanish language might be the future with the development of South America. Latin and spanish are related and maybe his interest is from the latin name for most of the scientific names.

I thot 3rd languages are standard offers from MOE, not by school. The languages offered (from what I know) are Japanese, German, French and Malay.

Most will have to go to the language centre near RI to take the 3rd language right ?

Some schools like NUSH have their inhouse 3rd language teachers but NUSH only have French and Japanese, as elective. But must pay $100.

Yesterday, went to help pick up my sec2 nephew from a prominent tuition centre. This is a class cater for IP I guess, since I can identitfy them from their uniform. Did a count , 6-RI, 1-HCI, 1-NYGH, 1-RGS, 1-DHS, 1-?(in home cloth). It seems like RI students need tuition the most. Is it because their courses are tough or they don't really teach (heard from a RI parent). But we are seeing parents rushing for RI every year. Do select school which is most suitable for your kids and not just becos of \"่™Ž็ˆถๆ— ็Šฌๅญโ€œ saying or heirtage...

                      Hi Otah,
Can you please kindly share which tuition centre is this and what subject it is for? My niece in IP is not doing too well and looking for English & Maths tuition (maybe Science too as her Physics also not too good). Can you please advise as I do not have kids in sec sch so do not know where to go. Thanks.

Aiyoyo... why suddenly so many people asking me about tuition. I think I should change job liao... let me go check if got commission first oki?

I really admire those top students for PSLE, O-Level and A-Level who appeared in newspaper said that they do not have any tuition at all. With good time management and teachers help they are able to achieve good result and become the top students in Singapore. Some more there was one student last year in RPS, he not only top in PSLE but also able to skip one level. He is real gifted manz!!!
