Always prepare the whole piece. Suggest to play (if possible) one fast piece to show technique and a contrasting piece to show musicality.hi all,
Any of you have kids or know of any anyone who have done DSA via violin?
When it state 'prepare 2 short pieces to be played audition', does that mean my DD just need to play part of the piece? or to play the the full song of a short piece??
Thanks for any advise

Hi sautille,
Yes, was instructed to prepare 1 fast & 1 slow piece.
Problem is my DD just started learning grade 7 pieces so not comfortable in mastering whole piece especially the slow piece.
Another option is to play grade 5 piece… still undecided… and her audition is on next Tuesday! -

For those attending RGS half day selection test this Sat, is the reporting venue for all Domains the same at
Cyber Learning Centre (CLC), Level 4 Block D, RGS (Secondary)?
Surely it would be a big crowd!
English domain is. Not sure about others. How big is the CLC? I haven't been there before. But I guess there will be another round of selection test, because there had been GAT on tue. -

May I know which school is your DD auditioning for?Hi sautille,

IMHO, it is risky to audition with pieces that you are not familiar with or not confident to play because the judges' trained ears will be able to detect the hesitation. All the best for your DD's audition. -

What does her teacher say? Can she perform her grade 5 pieces very very well? If yes, I'd say to do that instead. No point risking grade 7 pieces that she can't play perfectly.Hi sautille,

Please do ask the teacher's opinion. Also, do practise scales and some sightreading?
