Don't be surprised if they don't even look at your projects or ask you for a presentation. During the parents' briefing, the GE officer mentioned that in some interviews they don't bother to look at your projects etc.cylg:

What I gather from a parent's briefing at the beginning of the year was :
1. Pass in social studies means overall for P6 at least 70% -- this includes SS portfolio (20%), FPS project (20%), CT (20%), End-of-year exam(40%)
3. PSLE performance above 250. If below, then the teachers and GE branch discuss whether can promote as GE status.
I understand promoted as GE status gets you that EESIS scholarship. But suppose get into IP program via DSA and yet PSLE < 250, do the child still continue in the SBGE classes in the secondary school ? Anyone knows ?
From slides from briefing by someone from GE branch at NHPS this year.
70% for SS was mentioned but not the 250 for PSLE.
I remembered she specifically told us that as long as the child can get DSA to those schools with SBGE on the MOE list, they can maintain the GE status. -
jtoh:
How about DHS ? They have no issue on EESIS. So no need 250 if they get an CO via DSA. rite? So it may be better to include this school in your DSA list if have no confident getting a CO in the other more popular ones. BTW, what is their population of GEPers?
I don't know of any GEP kid who scored <250 who's in an IP programme so can't comment on that. The ones I know who eventually scored low 250 or under didn't manage to get a DSA CO and obviously couldn't get into the IP programmes based on PSLE scores either. So the schools do have their ways of weaning out the weaker GEP students.Kloggy:

Some will still be. So just bring something the kid is confident about and can talk about. After all, it's not difficult to talk about something you created and you're proud about. -

Someone mentioned that to be promoted to GEP in secondary school, you need to meet a PSLE score of 250. Other parents do not recall hearing it.jtoh:

As far as the official MOE statement on their site goes, this is what it says:
After Primary 6, promotion to the next level of gifted education is based on:
1. performance in the GEP from Primary 4 to 6, including a pass in Social Studies
2. attitude towards work and the enrichment programme
3. performance at the PSLE -

Last time heard RI and HCI used to take the same GAT from civil service college, so if the kid apply both the other one automatically know (wonder how they knew) and email to the kid that they will take it from the other school. But this year, am hearing so many duplication.
