Hi. I'm new to the DSA system so this is probably a silly question. All the experienced daddies and mommies, pls bear with me.

This is with regards to applying for RI thru DSA - academic track.
If the child has high distinction in ICAS for English and Science but for school results, only gets about 70+, will he even be considered?

Will he be called up to go for the General Ability Test at all?

      Many thanks in advance.
Is he is from the GEP stream? If from mainstream, I am afraid chance not high. He will probably have higher chance using his PSLE score.

Thanks for your reply. Nope, not from GEP.

Just curious....what should the school result be in order to stand a chance in DSA for non gep student?

How about say RI for academic domain? Usually what is the % of seats of the school vacancy is meant for DSA. And what is the % of such seats given to GEP students versus non-GEP?

Hi, happen to see this information from RVHS for DSA application last year:

For 2010 DSA applicants, the following are the application criteria:

                DSA (Academic):

All applicants must attain at least 80% for overall percentage and \"A\" grade for Chinese Language in both P5 End-Year & P6 Mid-Year Examination.
Applicants have attained special achievements in Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics or Science based competition

DSA (Special Talent): Sports & Games and Others

All applicants must attain at least 75% for overall percentage and \"A\" grade for Chinese Language in both P5 End-Year & P6 Mid-Year Examination.

RI annual intake for sec 1 = 450

50% for DSA and 50% for S1 posting

for GEPpers applying, the school open house talk say average score in P4, P5 & P6 must be above 80% to avoid GAT test

any one can apply and non-GEPpers will need to sit for GAT and if successful, go for the selection tests which are out of the world type. they are out to choose EXCEPTIONAL talent, as per their website info.

even though the allocated DSA vacancies are not fill up, they will not take in the \"next best\", and will be filled up by merit and S1 posting or those DSA appeal cases with good results. as an independent school, RI has 100% discretion on how many places to put under DSA. Same for all other independent schools.

you should go RI thread as well to read what was discussed last year this time onward and get a feel of what it involves, as well as starting last May on this DSA thread

Meaning he got inspired and wanted to go that sch very much after the visit, then he really worked hard and go in there ....
Another classic case of sch visits and getting inspiration to work hard in getting in ...

My ds1 is in year 2 already. He applied under DSA after the Open House. He is enjoying his time in the school.

                    Hi,
I heard that NJC does not provide DSA through sport. My kid is very keen in joining the badminton and I am wondering how high is the chance to get into the NJC badminton team ?

                    Thank you very much.

DSA under general domains, as understand they do not have specific domains such as sports ? Is this understanding correct ? You have pm 🙂
