Interesting.
On the contrary, those were the ones given the COs and more likely than not, they will be taking up the RI or NUSH offers instead. That's why ACSI was appealing to those who do not intend to take up the CO to let them know early, so as to free up the places for those on WL.ngbrdad:
Quite a fair bit of the ACSP GEP only joined for the GEP and not real ACS thru and thru.
Maybe these are the ones given WL.
They are really banking on the loyalty of the ACS people. -
jtoh:
Interesting. So schools can inflate their COPs by taking in fewer students than capacity.
so NUSH & NJC do that ?
I don't see why NJC can't do that. Anyway the past 2 years intake numbers - can tell that they probably want to uphold a certain standard since they didn't take in to their capacityphankao:

Can a school set a pre-determined COP for S1 Central Posting? Isn't the COP determined by the last person entering the school based on vacancies? Or are you saying that NJC chooses not to admit students below a pre-determined COP so as to maintain a higher COP?
I can understand that NUSH does this because it's an independent school. But isn't NJC a government school? Does it also have the leeway to do this? -

Some people say the school's doing this because they're fed up with giving out COs to students who eventually use ACSI as a back-up in case they get a WL from RI. -
vk2010, it appears so if they donโt take up to their capacity.

so NUSH & NJC do that ?
that is what my ds has analysed also..with so low an intake (abt 170)..sure the cop will be high..if they increase their intake then automatically they will take in kids wtih lower psle t -score eventually..

Interestingly the 2 IP schools with the smallest cohort never fills up their full capacity. -

Thank you for all the well wishes ! DD came out of the I terview quite disheartend, said she failed . They asked her wat s her strength and weaknesses and she said an avid reader like her is good on gk but xan be anti social at times so they told her if u want to be in ip Prog then u have to be sociable . She thought that was a bad answer to give . She was really upset abt the way she presented herself . Told her that she can always try the psle route and not get upset abt it

Please tell your daughter not to be disheartened. Years ago during an interview for a scholarship I gave a similar honest from heart answer - but that could be construed as totally 'wrong' - I still got the scholarship. Sometimes interviewers are trying to see how well the interviewee can adjudge themselves. In any case - knowing your weakness is a first step in addressing them
Good luck to her. -

Thanks for the encouragement. She went on to say \"I can be sociable when I need to ,\" she s just so naive and straight forward . :stupid:
Good luck to her. -

Donโt think that is the case for NUSH. The school had been consistent - 10% of each year cohort are admitted based on PSLE results. Each year, they would admit the full allotment of 10% vacancies based on PSLE results. Yes, the school wants to maintain certain admission criteria but I think these criteria apply only for DSA phase. No reason for the school to inflate COP when the PSLE intake is so small. The school does not even publicise their COP - for PSLE intake, criteria has always been T-score of 250 and A* for both Maths & Science. Also, I sense that the school places more importance in their DSA screening process than PSLE results.
