Now DSA results for all the independent IP schools are out.

Only left NJC, DHS, RVH, all government schools.......

Phone call with good news for my boy first thing this morning. Nothing so exciting, not premier school, but comforting news nevertheless. I thought not to let him know so he won't be too \"proud\" of himself, but got to go for meeting tomorrow. ;(

        :congrats: to phankao and DS!

          Ms tay:
My ds scored 268 - 275(since p3- p6 ) he got 1st in his level every year in his school .I really dont understand why ri and hci rejected him . Anyone can explain ???

          :hugs: Hi Ms tay,
I wanted u to know that my heart feels for u as my DD was in the same postion as yours when she was rejected by RGS. Like urs, DD was an outstanding mainstreamer in a popular neighbourhood sch. Armed with being a top gal in her sch since P1, excelling in CCA, UNSW competns and leadership positions, we decided to embark on this DSA journey. We prep & tested her on her best subject, English. She cld handle up to 'O' level standard & not to mention, literature poetry too. Hence we were assured that she has shown exceptional abilities in her pet subject. 🙏

During the 3rd and final round, the expressions given by the interviewers seemed very positive but :? strangely, despite all that, she was eliminated!
 A few very kind forumners pm & consoled us that because DD has no problem in hitting well above the COP for RGS & in view of the limited places left for mainstreamers, chances are the sch wld give COs to those more in need.
Whether it hold any truth, we decided not to dwell on it anymore.

Naturally DD felt disappointed & at that time, she felt that she was being made a booboo! :stupid: Our reactions to the matter wld be detrimental to their feelings & morale. We did our reflections & what came out of this DSA journey was invaluable. Honestly, we wld constantly remind DD to stay humble & know for the fact when she wakes up tmr morning, there maybe another higher mountain being found!. No doubt, it was made a little easier for us to handle this rejection as we did strategise for NYGH and a 2nd tier IP sch, & she has now gotten 2 COs as her safety net.

Ms tay, I believe there will be no answers to our rejections....WE WILL STAY STRONG & MOVE ON! Show them what we hv got & I am sure ur DS will still be able to make it to his dream sch via PSLE results. :rahrah: All the best to your DS!! Jia you!!! :rahrah:

RI and HCI take in very few mainstream students via DSA so competition is very tough. Maybe his performance at the tests and interview weren't as strong as the others? Or perhaps he's very good in all subjects but not outstanding in one particular subject compared to the others? DSA is for those who demonstrate exceptional ability over and beyond their peers in a particular subject or sport. If your son is an all-rounder, as he probably is based on his excellent school results, he would have no problems getting in based on his PSLE. DSA is not for all-rounded students.

I'm sure your son will excel in his PSLE and get into his dream school that way. Good luck!

Jtoh , u have very strong analyze ability !!!
Thk u so much for the detail and advice .

School exam papers are not common and the difficulty level may vary. Some schools set tougher exam papers in some subjects. So it is not fair to depend on school results. So GAT test being common for all of them should be their first cut, followed by the child's profile whether he/she has national/international competition award. Prefect/no prefect nowadays also not 准 leh. I know some mainstreamers who were offered in the previous year via DSA to HCI. They are students who took part in bi-culture camp at P5, obtained a Gold/plat in SMOPS, the other one who is non of bi-culture or SMOPS awardee got offer and later posted to ispark, which mean GAT score is important. These students also have very good school exam track records but they are not the top, top one in their school.
