      Ms Tay,

2 years ago, when my DS received the letter to GEP, I remember his ex-sch form teacher (whom actually discourage my DS to go into GEP) told me this. \"DSA is created for GEP students. This is because GEP focus on projects/portfolio from P4 to P6 (mid year). This group of students didn't really spend much time in preparing for PSLE. If there's no DSA, then they're at losing end.\" I'm not sure how true is this, but from this thread, it's seems like it's really not easy for mainstream students in this DSA process. As for GEPers, they do have to do well (to score >80%) in order to have \"smoother\" process. & it's also not easy to score > 80% in GEP.

What ever reason it is, I believe your DS will definitely do well in his PSLE. Cheer Up!!!!!

From what I read in this thread, the GEP are doing subjects pitch at higher level, such as English at secondary 1 or 2 level at P4, social studies at sec 1 to sec3 level, Maths are very challenging and need not be within the scope of mainstream. So if they can do well, they could be put on a through train, something lidat...[/quote]Yap, Otah, you're right!!! So is Science. They've practical test as well. Not sure if mainstream have that. When I saw the English, I 😓 That's why it's also not easy to score > 80%.

I believe what u have said . I heard that gep students totally have no time to play or enjoy their childhood , is that true ? If that is true, they ought to deserve dsa co or wl ..他们付出的代价太大了!!!
Not my DS. Don't think he had that hard a time over the past 3 years.

Not sure abt other Gep students. I make sure my DS has day off on Sunday, even when he's having exam. The work is manageable if they have proper time management. Though at times, he has to forego some computer time in order to complete his projects.

              hi Ms Tay,

Science domain test at RI for a P6 child was set something equivalent like Sec 3/4 standard. omg!

Thank you very much for the tips, dear.

that is why it is always said that for any P6 students doing the subject domain test in RI, they questions they faced are always \"out of the world\" type ..

not really la..they still have some play time..But from p4 to mid p6 these geppers main focus is on the gep assignments and projects. Their common tests and exams are same through out the 9 gep schools..So cannot play play. These results are important for the dsa too.
After finish their last gep exam which is the p6 gep mid yr exam then they can really sit down and revise for prelim and psle .... So I would say quite many geppers might loose out to constant top scorers of mainstreams as from p4 to p6, alot of their time is used to tackle challenging assignments and gep worksheets and exams...
All in all, I am glad tt there is this DSA thingy to help them by scanning through the kids past yrs effort and performance in gep.

付出的代价太大, I guess this term is relative. Some of these kids if they were to stay in mainstream, will have suffer more. The curriculum does stretch them, but I can see DS was enjoying most of the it. Alot of effort is still needed from them, but I do see them much beyond other kids of their age. Putting these kids into GEP help to focus their energy to deepen their knowledge, which most of these kids took it as a challenge upon themselves.
