      Edureach:
Hey, what's the obession of going to a top school?

There are many many good schools to choose from.

It's all in the mind and perception.

Don't waste time and fret over such minor thing.

      You will have less stress!

        vks2010...

hello... I m not spreading rumour, I am just saying get the school to indicate clearing the COP and not to just state the standard para...

Basically is to protect the interest of parents and kids and that school has to stick to the COP too...

Someone people thinks that to be eligible for express is 200 and you mentioned 188 so isn't it ambiguous to just state a standard para which does not reflect any COP no.

For me, I believe the COP of 246 does exist... cos the school has to ensure that the kids can cope with the sch work...

          hi jtoh

U hv not hear abt COP of 246, it does not mean that such figure does not exist... i believe the reason why letter are drafted in such a way is to give the school more flexibility in selection of students... if they achieved their quota......

Letter with a clear COP isn't it better and clearer to the kid and parents??? They know what to expect and also it will help them to work towards getting a better T-score...

Rather then letting the parents or kids search the web just to find out what the standard para \"tat the kid being able to qualify for the express stream\" and translate it into T-score.

I am trying to safeguard the interest of parents in this DSA process.

          :dancing: :dancing:
It appears that only you have heard of this COP. All the parents who've responded here all know of kids who were accepted at COPs lower than your purported figure - parents who've been on the kiasu forum for a long time and have been around to offer advice or to share their knowledge over the years.

As vk2010 says, no one's going to believe your irresponsible rumour mongering as you have no evidence to back it up.

But once the school did not state that the student has to meet a minimum of 246 on their letter (and yes, they CAN state, if they wish), then they cannot \"rescind\" an \"offer\" that has been \"exercised\" by the student.

Eg. if the letter just states, \"has to eligible for the express stream\", and the school has issued a \"CONFIRMED LETTER of OFFER\", and the Student has put that school as FIRST CHOICE during the Preference Option stage, then there is no way the school can *rescind* offer UNLESS the student doesn't meet. eg. the student had score below 200.(Most IP schools will clearly not accept anything below 200). For the school not to accept under the \"terms\" stated in its letter, is \"illegal\".

that's why I said - maybe your \"friends\" who didn't get in bc their score below this \"246\" that you state, - it's really bc they did not read the terms carefully.

I know of friends whose kids have the school's desired min score stated in the offer letter - what's so unusual about putting that in? eg. 230 for a top o-level school that i know.

Parents whose kids failed to get in will not bother to visit this thread to give details...

Again, I reiterate that I am not spreading rumour, i am just saying get the school to state clearly the COP...

FYI, RI cut of point for sports intake is not 200.

Clear cut off point is important for those kids who may not do well at PSLE.. is basically to protect their DSA status.. Do need to get so upset...

I m just writing what i have heard from two very reliable sources and you can choose not be believe it but please do not say that I am spreading rumour...

Hah - but RI's COP for GEP students under DSA is 200.

Unfortunately, you are spreading rumours when you name a school, the so-called COP and a so-called incident which you are unable to provide evidence of.

As a parents forum, everyone here tries to help each other out and if we see information that is not correct or misleading, we have to correct it before the misinformation gets out of hand.

This is the only ambigious eligibility statement I've seen on a school's confirmed offer letter. All the rest state either \"eligible for express stream\" or state the min score of eligibility.

                      Is this for NJC?

actually I also find the statement which they use ambigious…and don’t feel ‘secure’ as they don’t put down a figure…
