        :congrats: and welcome.
One is in the west and one in the east, you must be someone staying in central? These 2 schools are of opposite system, one a SAP school with strong chinese background and a long tradition. The othe is new, modular subject based system with an early emphasis on applied science. For me, I am leaving it to my DS to decide, with us offering guidance. I am still inclined towards the traditional education system, and that will be my guidng principle.

              Pooh Bear:
You always have a choice to put in the kid into GEP. \"Fair\" or \"unfair\" --> u are given a choice. Life itself is unfair, but it is dependent on you to make the best out of it.

I cannot understand why GEP kids who are not successful in DSA, then have to take PSLE, is considered \"unfair\"?

Whether GEP or mainstreamer study same subjects, abeit GEP at greater depth. Most mainstreamer kids would not bother about \"chiong\" PSLE until P6. Even GEP cannot presume they can ignore PSLE when they are in P5.
To mainstreamer looking at GEP, it is like \"Welcome dvision 1 player to our game!\"

None of my many niece and nephew were in GEP. All end up in 2nd tier secondary schools, but still went to NUS, NTU.
Of course, if you are looking for scholarship, etc, it is different. But wheher DSA or not, it will not be a factor. It will depends on how hard the student work in PSLE, then in secondary school.

I would be very glad if my children qualify for GEP because I think the chances of them become academically more capable is higher.

                Blur Dad:
My DS scored 77.x% for his SA1. Applied DSA to RI, HCI and ASCI. Got rejected from RI and HCI. WL for ACSI. The DSA journey was quite painful for my DS. Take sometime for him to get over it.

Well, I guess this is the price to pay for not scoring >80% and hoping to get DSA to the top boy’s school via DSA.

                Cheers
                Hi Blur Dad,
Sorry to hear about your DS. Don't feel too disheartened.....still have PSLE. All the best to your DS. Hopefully, he'll get into his dream sch with his PSLE t-score. Jia You! :rahrah:

                    Dear Funx3 and cindylauper

Many thanks for well wishes and encouragement. Yes we should all encourage our DS and DD that the most important thing now is to focus and concentrate on their revision and aim to do their best in PSLE. DSA is just one of the many steps in their education journey and we should encourage them to learn from the positive lessons Out of the unsuccessful attempts - experience from the interviews, GATs, etc. For my DS, I think it is a good lesson to learn how to accept disappointments and pick up and move on. All the best to all DS and DD for the listening compre on 16 sep, written papers on 29 sep to 5 Oct. GB

They should just abolish DSA and give GEPers an extra bonus points over their PSLE score (like what they do for HMT). I remember that for entry to JC last time, it was that way. eg. affiliated school - minus 2 points, national sportsman - minus 4 points, or something like that.

                      \"national sportsman - minus 4 points\"
Really Got such Scheme last Time?
                      How Long Ago was it?

That \"4 points\" is just some figure I plucked out lah. I don't know how many \"bonus\" points it. I just know there were. It's either that or they would also just take in if they were national sportspersons no matter what points they got. I remember a national swimmer in my year who had like 17 points when everyone got into the JC with less than 10 points. He was ex-RI. (all the RI & RGS students had extra bonus 2 points). We had some who got in with extra bonus in my class I think, also national player plus ex-RI but in the end did quite well for A-levels and did courses like dentistry and medicine. Anyway, during our time, those who got in medicine were not exactly perfect scorers.

                        CSN:
Dear Parents who are still waiting for NJC's letters

It means bad news if u have not received any letter by now. DH called NJC on Thursday and was told letters posted to successful ones on Wed and they will post unsuccessful ones only next week. It's bad news for DS as NJC is only remaining hope. So got to really \"chiong\" for PSLE. Given his very weak Chinese, slim chance to get to his dream school. Will try our best and commit the rest to God. God bless. A very worried mum.
                        Hi CSN,
Hopefully it's just postal delay with all the holidays recently. 😉
Regardless of the DSA outcome, I'm sure it was a learning experience for your DS.

Wish your DS all the best with his PSLE and hopefully, he'll get into his dream sch. :xedfingers:
