DSA 2011

Brenda10:
Those are standard words, Brenda10. In fact, I think it was quite insensitive of them to put it in the Subject Header! I think subject header should simply say \"Direct school admission exercise 2011 application\", and the \"unsuccessful\" should be mentioned in the subject matter.
However, DHS is still very nice on putting the nice words to those unsuccessful applications! :salute: -

it's not that GEP students do badly in PSLE but just that the expectation is very high for many deemed as the top 1% of the cohort.
There is one thing I'd like to know though. Do GEP students fair badly in PSLE? What is the avg T Score of a GEP class? -

Dear Strparent,
hi BlurDad,Blur Dad:
May I know what is \"Supplementary Intake\" with RI & HCI\". Is it a test or an application process? Or is it an appeal process and has to depend on the PSLE T-Score.
My DS scored 77.x% for SA1. Rejected from RI and HCI. Do you think my DS can go for the \"Supplementary Intrake\"
The supplementary intake is for those who are already assigned to other schools ( usually via DSA ) after the PSLE results / DSA postings. Normally, the schools will already have their indicative cut-off T score as reference ( I think ). So if your children have scored more than that score, you can apply for it, even though already posted to another confirmed DSA school. It doesn't apply to GEP only, but to all students who did quite well in PSLE, but were not given COs during DSA.
I think vk2010 DS did the same last year ( posted to HCI, but applied to RI at supplementary intake ).
last year's RI supplementary intake info as below, just for reference, dates are all last year. HCI was similar timing also.
The most important thing is that the children all work hard for their PSLE. DSA is just an alternative shortcut, designed mainly for GEPpers and sports/talent domains kids.
Do you mind sharing with us what was your DS tscore? I understand that for Supplementary intakes, the tscore has got to be much higher then the COP for that year. Is that right? -

Hi rylee
Hi Brenda, thanks. My DS just called me, his prelimin result is around 260. I told him to continue working hard for his psle, if he can get good result, he maybe able to appeal to DHS after psle. (actually both my wife and I prefer him to go to a boys school).
Hi rylee,
Yes, this is very good result and hoepfully they can score higher on the PSLE. :celebrate: -
if u score 90+ or A* for all subject, it’ll be 260ish and above.

Wah, that means they must have given out ALOT of CO??? Or maybe they feel that it'd be better for them to take in students under S1 posting. ;(Just called NJC.

In general, GEP students do very well in PSLE. There are of course a few who don't do as well as expected but these are in the minority. The students who don't do as well are usually weaker in one subject, for eg. CL or Math.
There is one thing I'd like to know though. Do GEP students fair badly in PSLE? What is the avg T Score of a GEP class?
Maybe some parents of Gep students who have already finished PSLE can throw some light on it? This can help ease a lot of anxiety of those parents who do not yet have a CO. -
