I am assuming he din get reply for his appeal so he went ahead to submit s1 posting to RI. So in this case will the GAT result supercede RI decision making later? Or is it better just to submit s1 posting and not do appeal?Zann:
Assuming a student got rejection from R1 during DSA due to poor result in GAT and no other CD/WL else where. so this stud went to appeal after obtaining a PSLE score higher than previous COP. Will the poor GAT score supercede the PSLE score and causing him to be rejected in via appeal. ( I do remember there was a 26++ appeal case got rejected in this forum last year) If this is so, he should not appeal but just apply for s1 posting. If GAT is not being used why the need to take GAT and pay $60? This is all along I feel puzzled. Anyone can enlighten me?
If high t-score highly likely will be accepted liao. Anyway, if he didn't get confirmation thru appeal he need to submit s1 posting mah.... :scratchhead: -
Strparent:
I am unsure if GAT during his DSA affect his appeal so may be to be safe he having 270 should just go for s1 posting and put RI as first choice. Then why last yr there were case of 26++ unsuccessful in their appeal?Zann:

For yr first question, it's up to the sch, say if he did badly in GAT, then PSLE get 270, what do you think ? RI will still grab him ma. Maybe that day, he mental block ? the GAT was not so simple, answer 60 questions in 15mins. So most did not complete I would guess.
Hope this clarifies your confusion.

errr Zann, :frustrated: :frustrated:
kindly please stop the car and reverse, you are still on the wrong direction in the same one-way street !
see the quotes and explanations as well from vk2010 and jtoh ( highlighted and underlined )
That boy probably already posted to another school, so he COULD NOT participate in S1 posting exercise, so he had to do it by appeal.
If you score high and has NOT been posted to other sch via DSA, then just simply exercise your S1 posting option, and wait for the enrolment. NO need to appeal.
APPEAL is mainly for those who failed in DSA to that sch and already posted to ANOTHER sch.
capishe ?     :idea:Strparent:
I think you are going against the direction in a one-way street leh.
Appeal from 24Nov after PSLE results, is ONLY for those who are already posted to other schools via DSA COs or WL-turned CO, and want to change to another sch ( pls read ah beng, ah seng story ).jtoh:
There was speculation that in last year's case of the boy who scored >260 but was rejected in his appeal did badly in GAT. So not surprising he was rejected. This boy couldn't have gone for S1 posting bec he already had a CO from some other school. With the limited number of places and so many boys applying, it's not surprising that RI will reject some who scored >260.

I think you are confusing yourself
if his t-score is comfortably higher than past cop, then why bother with appeal and suppl intake if he has been given the S1 form ? just submit and wait for S1 result lor. -
Aiyo strparent, relax... :imconstipated: I'm the one who raise this qn and along the way the choice of word the shifu used also confused me. It is only later part of the thread that I get clear and clear plus I think you help to clarify it by putting the bit and pieces together. Well done...

:boogie: strparent is eager to help and explain
but now may be very difficult for some p6 parents to relate to certain parts :nailbite: After PSLE results are out, with actual scenarios, may be easier to discuss with real life examples and numbers. Anyway after PSLE results, everyone will auto migrate to respective threads on S1 posting, appeal process for those with COs and outside S1, sec sch COP for deeper discussions :celebrate: :hi5: -

Master εΈηΆ-VK is like our papa.. very apt & precise in his explanation (may sound a little impatient at times).. but its for our own good as he wants us to learn fast..
Master εΈε ¬-strparent is like our ah-kong.. very clear in his explanation (may sound a little lor-sor at times).. always patiently summarising different points raised and putting different pieces of infomation together for our better understanding.. and will use 'hao-tai' (or other terms) occasionally in case we forget our dialects..
i respect both my papa & my ah-kong! :salute: :salute: -

Hi, let me share with you my DD's case 2 yrs ago. He did not participate in DSA. His PSLE result was eligible to enter HCI. However, as we were uncertain of IP at that point of time, we did not apply any IP schs during the S1 submission. After the S1 submission was closed, I found out more abt the IP & regretted our choice.
if you have NOT applied DSA before, what is there to appeal before S1 posting ?Lenny08:
Hi All,
Thanks for the explanation.
May I ask, does RGS and NYGH accept appeal before the s1 posting when one did not or did apply via dsa route?thanks. So, best to appeal if t score is slightly above the schools cop?
Best Wishes,
Lenny
obviously if you did not make it one of your choices in the S1 submission, you also have no basis to appeal after the s1 result is out
Like many parents, I also thought there is no basis to appeal if we did not make the sch as one of our choices. Anyway, I called up HCI to ask if I could appeal & the lady actually encouraged me to do that. So I went to HCI to appeal before the S1 posting result was out. However, we only heard from them about our successful appeal a few days after the S1 posting results....guess they still give priorities to those who had DSAed to their sch & those who had put them as 1st choice in the S1 posting.
On the S1 posting result day, we also went to DHS to appeal & got the gds news fm them 2 days later. Eventually, we chose HCI.
So if u want to go to sch of ur choice & if ur PSLE result permits, just go ahead and appeal irregardless of whether u hv put their sch as any of your choices. U nvr noe if u dun even try. -
Hi Ksp,
I was browsing this thread and read about appeals before S1 posting out etc.I wonder, what is the basis for the school to filter students via appealing case and s1 posting?
Thank you.
Cheers,
Leanne -

:goodpost: classic example of fantastic PSLE score = kid choose school, not school choose kid :imcool: So parents with no DSA CO/WL etc don't fret, your DS/DD could be the ones the good IP schools roll red carpet for  :rahrah:
