ChillyCrab Comics

Thanks, Chillycrab. I believe to be very good at anything, we need to practise it a lot. For now, I'll let him do what he likes, and I'll just provide him with lots of sketch books and materials.
Hi Picolo... I really dun know how to advise on this. I have no formal training on drawing myself. I just go ahead and draw.Picolo:
Chillycrab,
I didn't know you drew the comic strips. You are so very talented! My ds1 at P2 and some of his classmates like to draw comic strips too. They will share their work in school and have a good laugh, a smart and talented boy even photostat his comic strips and let my son (his fan) has a copy. Did you have any advice for these young kids on what to read so as to improve?
As you can see, japanese manga has a strong influence on my style of drawing. I used to read a lot of manga; Dragonball, City Hunter, etc. If the kids are into drawing, just ask them to go ahead and draw. Just let go and use the force, and create their own style.
Like everything else; be it maths, tennis or playing computer games... it will need a lot of practice. These funnies I've drawn here are my initial attempts... I'm still practising.
BTW, like the other parents, I really hope your comic strips can be published on The Sunday Times, right at the top of the page - something like the Chew On It. Perhaps you can email any reporter with your comics attachment to ask who's the right person in SPH to contact? -

I think you definitely have talent, chillycrab, but it will take more than a couple of dozen comic strips to convince a publisher to invest in a comics book deal with an author. Why not start your own website or blog, and publish your own comics there on a regular basis? When you have gathered sufficient material, and with a proven audience over time, you would have built enough clout to do what you want.... I think it is a great idea, not so much of earning a lot of money, but of sharing a lighter side of the stressful examinations our kids are going through every year. I don't think there are enough comics now to publish a book, but that is not a big problem, I can continue to draw.
The issue is how to go about to publish a book. I have no idea at all how to do this:
- where/how to find a publisher? are they willing to help or do I have to convince/beg them?
- do I need to come out with my own $ to publish/print the books?
- and how about distribution?
- I guess some form of promotion of the book is needed too right?
Any fellow parents out there has experience in this area? Thanks. -

ha... of course I dun expect to publish anything at this moment, not even in the near future. I was just wondering how to go about doing it.
Actually I do have a website, by some free hosting services, but the comics is about the same as those I've posted here. Maybe when there are more non-school comics... then I'll share the URL. -

Picolo, have checked out the Central Library, there are a lot of drawing books there, and some are specifically on comic drawing. Do borrow some for your kid. Thanks, Chillycrab. Hello Everyone,
Exams are over... so no more exam funnies. But the PSLE results will be announced very soon... this Thursday.
I've drawn an illustration for this 'exciting' day, I'm looking forward to it... and I think many parents are feeling the same.
I had a lot of fun drawing the funnies and sharing them with you guys, and I'm glad most of you enjoyed them. So this is probably the last one, thanks very much for all the encouraging words.
All the best the our P6 kids and also to their parents!!!

HI chillycrab,
You can draw really well.
But why do you want to stop drawing?
I really love your comics and so is my son! -
