Pat's Schoolhouse

hi all
am considering putting my 4-yr-old in Pat's and was told we've to enroll by this month as they currently have vacancies. wondering if anyone put their kid in Pat's in the last quarter of the year? coz the kids will be doing revision so wondering if my girl will have problems trying to catch up or settle in. thanks!
I think there is no problem joining in the last quarter for nursery year. Just that you must bear in mind you will have to pay for the whole month of December even though the last 2 weeks are just childcare services without any formal programme. Most kids don't go to school in the last 2 weeks. However September is the period that you will be offered a place for the following year. You should check if you could still get a place next year if you don't join now.
PSH has reverted to inhouse cooking by the centre's aunties. -

I love Ms Gwen! She was my DD's teacher when she was in Baby Haven. Yes, she is definitely better than the ex-principal.I've visited most infantcare. So far Baby Haven is one of those better ones. Their teachers are very caring. They have huge playground with lots of outdoor slides, swings, tricycles. My boy took only two days to fit in. The teachers update me everyday about my boy ie whether he finish his meal, milk, milestones etc. They are honest even if my boy is not eating much. Now improving. My boy looks forward going to Baby Haven everyday. He cries for he has mistaken he's not going to school when he sees his kor-kor get down from the car first before him in the morning. The previous principal has left, and I'm glad she did. Once I asked her whether teachers help to potty train, she answered with narcism, saying that nowadays parents are so dependent on childcare and can't even take care of their own children. The new principal Ms Gwendolyn is much better and humble. She greets parents and she helps out when teachers are busy. Although she is young, she is very experienced in handling problems. So far she is the best principal I've met.

hi empressplace
thanks for the reply! yes, they have told me there will be no vacancy next year so we will have to enrol our girl now. and they also mentioned that the last 2 wks is juz childcare service so guess it’s not worth paying the monthly school fees but we dun have a choice if we want to put our girl in Pat’s.
anyone has any idea if Pat’s whitley or raffles centre is better? -
Hi Mummies,
I’m new to this site, has anyone put their kids to PAT’s at Lin Ah Pin? Any advise pls.
Thanks! -
Hi Pinklim
Are you able to get a slot at Lim Ah Pin branch?? I have been on list since beginning of this year and has yet to get one! Recently I have been offered a full day session for next year at their new location at Aroozoo.
I am a SAHM and I do not need my son to attend full day. If I let this opportunity go, I wonder if I will ever get a slot in future. Really loss as to what to do. I have till Friday to confirm.
I dont stay very near and Aroozoo is not near to the main road. I have a direct bus to the main road but walking in with a toddler is not easy. I contemplate I can go back to work if he attends full day session. But I start to worry what time he will reach home if he takes the school bus.
Can any mummies enlighten me what is the routine for a full day session toddlers do? Do they loose weight after attending full day? I worry if he doesnt eat well for lunch and back home so late after the school bus fetch him home.
I am a worrier I know… He is my first child and I have no clue what to expect. I guess i am the one having separation anxiety than him! -
hi,
i am putting my #2 in lim ah pin half day (Am). <- she got a place coz #1 is in nursery full day now.
at LAP, next year playgroup, 3 out of 4 classes are in full day. the current trend now seems to be full day… but i am more comfortable for my 3yr old to be half day and in 2013-nursery switch to full day.
playgrp full day do not have those extended programs (imaths, fasttrac kids, music n me)… it’s more into instilling a routine and better discipline if u ask me…
for my #1 nursery (he was not in full day playgrp, so i dunno whether it makes a difference, and this is a guide not totally accurate coz i dun have timetable w me right now).
12-1230 finished lunch and waiting to be bathed while half day students go home
1230-1pm bathing.
1pm-115pm - milk
115 - 245pm nap.
245pm - 3pm snack
3-5pm daily different activities.
5pm dismissal for those taking sch bus.
my only compliant now is the sch bus brings him off at 5pm and he reaches home at 550pm (from LAP to Sengkang). but i dun have any choice… in the mornings, we bring the boy to school ourselves. -
sher
maybe to reassure u, my #1 loves the afternoon part of the day more than morning part… maybe more funz for him in nursery w the imaths, fasttrac kids, music n me etc. -
I don’t think majority are in full day. At least not in my kid’s playgroup class last year.

Thanks Smurfy for your contribution.
I was also told the chance is ZERO if i ever want half day AM at LAP. It is all reserved for siblings. I like LAP environment. Another struggle to decide is the new location environment. How to decide now that the old building has not even started renovating? It used to a swimming pool. I know the area very well as my primary school was in that area. I used to swim there when I was a kid. The building is so old now I can visualise how it can be turn into a school. What if I sign up now and the environment is no good?
I agree with the complaint about school bus. If I ever go back to work, he has to take the school bus. Even I stay serangoon gardens which is not too far, I am sure the time taken to go back may be the same to Sengkang. -
