Can't answer about MEP. Between History and Geography, I think the question to ask is not whether the subject is \"easier\" as that depends so much on the individual, but which your daughter is more interested in. Also, whether she is good at handling more opinion-based inferential questions and writing more \"waffly\" essays (History) vs more fact-based inferential questions and essays. Before I get picked up on this distinction, let me say that I am NOT saying the History is all opinion-based and Geography is all fact-based - there is a lot that requires similar handling in the 2 subjects, but if we want to talk differences, this is where I see the difference.Anyone has any experience with MEP? My dd cant decide if she should take MEP or Pure History or Pure Geo. MEP will replace a humanity subj in her school & not taken as an extra subject.
Also, btwn Pure History & Pure Geo, which is easier? She likes history but many of hee friends told her tt history is difficult coz alot inferential qns than memory work.
TIA. -
Hi All Would like to check about triple humanities and Bicultural Studies Programme

While interest is important, aptitude for the subject plays a big role too. Afterall, everyone wishes to score well for all the subjects she opts for. If she consistently under-performs in the subject later, she may eventually loose her passion for it. You may want to compare her strength for history and geog in the last 2 years and not just between the grades of the 2 subjects but each subject's grade against the cohort's average.

But then is upper sec history/ geography similar to lower sec? The topics matter too.
I have read online that pure geography seems easier to score than pure history. My own observation of dd & ds schoolsβ olevel result also seem to point in that direction. However, geography syllabus is still changing. who knows? -

As of last O level exam, Geographical Investigations was introduced as a compulsory structured question. As there wasn't any previous reference for O level exam Q&A, it boils down to the skill & ability of teachers to teach. But then is upper sec history/ geography similar to lower sec? My friends' kids scored from As to Cs for pure geog. Not sure if the past trend of geog being easier to score than history still stands, as schools no longer make such statistics available. -
Thank you for all the advice & discussion. Dd order of preference is MEP, History & Geography. But her school is not a MEP school & there is only a handful of students (about 5) taking MEP in each cohort. As this year is the first batch of MEP taking o levels.... am afraid teacher/school is not experienced enough in this area. For History, everyone seems to say that it is more difficult to score than Geo.
Two tough decisions to make this week.... Sec 2 streaming for dd1 and DSA offers for dd2! :? -

Jumping in - based on what FMaths was like in earlier times (not sure if the new F Maths will be the same), don't take FMaths unless you like maths and are good at conceptual thinking. If you aren't, a lot of time is spent practising and pulling your hair; if you are good at it, it's a breeze. I didn't take it myself, but I saw many who did. -

Only take further math if can score consistently above 85% in additional math. otherwise will struggle in further math. further math only offer at h2 level and cannot drop to H1. also some JCs such as HCI and NJC require students to score at least A2 in Amaths and pass selection test before allowed to take further math. Students who study further math almost guarantee distinction in h2 math. like buy one get one free
