      Hi Dharma,

Thank you very much for the answers to my doubts.

May I know if the subjects combinations chart from MOE website?
This one from RI(JC)'s briefing to RI and RGS parents

          Hi JustKP,

Here is something on Qn2 & 3 u asked earlier.

          2. If I have already fulfilled the Mother Tongue requirement by passing Higher Mother Tongue at ‘O’ level, can I replace the 1 unit allocated for Mother Tongue with another subject, like H1Economics?
The maximum number of units a student can offer is 12. MOE’s policy is that the 12 units comprise 11 units + Mother Tongue (1 unit). If you have already fulfilled the Mother Tongue requirement, the maximum number of units you can offer is still 11. In other words, you cannot ‘replace’ the MT unit with another subject if your total number of units is already 11.

          8. How are students selected for H3 subjects? Is there a minimum requirement?

The minimum requirement for offering H3 for students from the Raffles Programme is a GPA of 2.8 and above. Students with ‘O’ levels must have scored a minimum of 6 ‘A1’s in any of the academic subjects. Students who do not meet the above requirements will not be allowed to offer H3 subjects.

Your teachers at RJC will also give further advice to help you make a decision regarding which H3 subject to offer. Please also note that you need to offer the subject at H2 level to qualify for the H3 component.

I would like to know, if any IP/Sec schools, no choosing of subjects combi at the end of year 2. Which means in year 3, must take all subjects. All the subjects are the 3 Sciences, History, Geo, English(Lang Arts), Chinese, E Maths and A Maths.

                TIA

That would mean no streaming into Science and Humanities for year 3. I don't know any school doing this. daisyt, may I know your reason for asking this? do you think it is better to go without streaming at Sec 3?

Hi, my girl is thinking of taking triple Science when she goes to year 3. She is seriously thinking very hard because she is not good in Science. However, she feels that being expose to triple Science would give her a better idea if to continue selecting triple Science or not, which Science, when she chooses subjects again in year 5. We have heard how difficult triple Sciences are, morever she is more of a language person.

Any parents can share your story or comments ? Thanks 😄
Do Triple Pure Science is good,
                      in the sense that
it open up more available options for u to choose from, later on.

But nowadays, the growing trend is towards ... Double Science classes, in many Secondary schools.

Having this discussion with my 2nd girl recently.

I wanted her to take triple science when she goes to Year 3, just like my eldest girl.

But she said that she doesn't like Physics, and she just wants to focus on Biology and Chemistry. She pointed out that she doesn't need Physics as she will be taking Math anyway.

My friends have also mentioned this trend of their children opting for a more even mix of Science and Humanities when they go Year 3. I believe it is related to the inter-disciplinary nature of education nowadays.
