While enjoying the occasional bee hoons with otah and luncheon meat, nasi lemak, chicken wings etc. I mostly try to cook healthy meals to nourish my family. Thought I'd share some 'shortcuts' my mom shared with me after pregnancy.

During confinement, while I was weak and recuperating, my mom actually poured this product - Huiji Waist Tonic, into my porridges and what not. It's really amazing. It helps with replenishing the body, it is also 100% vegetarian, and no alcohol content. But for kids, it says only suitable when 7yrs and above. Alternatively I just use honey to cook for the kids, they love it!

Do share if you have any secrets or any healthy meals for the family! 🙂
Thanks for starting this thread. I have no secrets or secret recipe, just prepare home cooked food as often as they would like it and never use MSG, less salt and less oil.

But I have never used Huiji Waist Tonic in my cooking, how much is it by the way? and where to buy?
      thanks. 🙂

The secret for a healthy lifestyle is what you eat and also your exercise. Maybe you would like to try out this \"30 day reboot program\".

        1. Wake up
Set a time to wake up in the morning.

        2. Drink enough mineral water
Maybe every 1-2 hour a cup of water.

        3. 30 second of jumping when you wake up
This will help you to stay awake and fresh and have energy to start the day.

        4. Meditate (30 min)
You can search for kelly Howell youtube and find videos on how to do it.

        5. Excise (30 min)
It would be great if you could do it daily maybe running or something.

        6. Healthy & Organic Smoothie
        - 2 cup almond milk
        - No soy
        - Avoid dairy milk
        - Rice protein/wheat protein
        - Banana
        - Blue berries
        - Goji
        - Chia seeds
        - Barley grass powder
        - Organic honey
        - Coaco powder
        - Maca powder

        7. 15 min under sun
        For vitamin D

Do this for 30 day and see how it work! 😄

Hi Wiimum, my mom normally buys from NTUC but I saw it at Cold Storage also. Just the other day, I dropped about 10ml into my chicken herbal soup, it tasted REALLY GOOD together. Best combination in my opinion! The herbal taste on both sides really complemented each other.

I don't really have the time to follow such a routine of workout as mentioned above.. As a full time working mom, it is really very difficult to workout on a daily basis. Therefore where possible, I simply incorporate a healthy eating diet. Thus the Huiji recommendation by my mom, on top of all the nutritious dishes prepared.

Any parents have other secret nutritious recipes?

汇集补腰精 can be taken neat also right?

what do u use for chicken herbal soup? Pre-packed Pasar herbs?

In addition, you could take more fruit/veggie juices. My addictions are:

            1) Organic Wheat Grass, Green Lemon, Green Apple, Pineapple
            2) Red apple, Celery
            3) Red apple, Beetroot, Carrots, Pineapple
            4) Carrot, Orange, Apple
            5) Yellow Tomato, Yellow watermelon, Pineapple
            6) Golden Kiwi, Green Apple, Avocado, Honey

You can eat some salads for dinner, instead of just drinking double-boiled herbal soups. Here’re my fav combis:

            1) Grilled chicken breast with extra virgin oil + Persian salt/Italian herbs + Mesclun salad + dried cranberries + pitted black olives + pine nuts + avocado slices
            2) Turkey ham + Baby Spinach + raisins + cous cous/brown rice + boiled egg whites + Maasdam
            3) Cured hams/Smoked salmon (high sodium) + wild rockets + pitted olives + Maasdam
            *4) Salmon sashimi/Lobster/Crab stick/fish roe/shrimps (*Unhealthy = high cholesterol) + choice of greens + Nori/Bonito flakes

            Dressings:
            1) Mizkan Yuzu/Miso/Sesame/Mustard+Shoyu sauces; or
            2) Kewpie Ume sauce; or Kewpie Mentaiko sauce (sinful); or
            3) Aged Balsamic Vinegar + Basil Olive Oil

            As for tea:

            1) Genmaicha
            2) Hojicha
            3) Tencha
            4) Hibiscus/Roselle tea
            5) Eight treasures tea

To ensure you’ve enough roughage, do take some muesli. Morning Post/Granola are my fav brands. They are best with fresh milk or yoghurt.

I download recipes from the internet. Admittedly, after I have cooked and eaten healthy food, I sometimes (often?) eat something sinful like chocolate. But overall, we try to eat balanced meals. Helps us think better in school and at work.

This cranberry-glazed chicken dish is a family favorite and so easy. It's just 5 ingredients (not including salt and pepper). The trick to this dish is to sauté the chicken breasts and then deglaze the pan with the cranberry mixture. Here’s another tip: if you have leftovers, put the chicken in a corn or flour tortilla (or a lettuce leaf if you really want to keep it healthy) and pack it for a nutritious lunch.

                    Ingredients

                    4 chicken breasts, boneless, skinless
                    ¾ cup whole cranberry sauce
                    ¼ cup apricot jam
                    1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
                    2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
