I would recommend the maths hub at bishan because they teach you alot of the methods for hard questions in the math olympiad. Bishan is better than the other branches as the teachers are more experienced and they use powerpoints to show questions.
Pls adv how do yu arr at Bishan being the best branch? Power points is used at Bt Batok too (or maybe all branches?) and as I understand, they use standard materials at all branches.
Thanks! -
Need parents comment here if Maths Hub covers fundamental concepts and demonstrate working for average P1 kid?

Indeed we use powerpoints in our lessons for Maths Olympiad training. And we also use the same materials at all branches.

ApronMama:
Hi apronMama, so which training centre did your child join? Is the centre good? Can pm me the name of the centre. Thank you very muchI dislike Mathhub coz they publish your kids name and result on their web, even if you quit or did not attend the specific training module such as NMOZ during holiday. If the kids score top/distinction, it may means they just being trainned and by MathHub, else if the result is so so, it is not so nice also...
I pull my kid out due for this reason and join training centre who does not publish students result on the web. -
Hi Maths Hub, I have just signed up my son for the 5 sessions Maths Olympiad March Holidays Intake at Kovan. We had missed the 10 sessions intake which started in Jan. Actually, he has only started to learn Maths Olympiad in school in early Jan 2012. Most of his friends have started in P4, which is 2 years ago. The teacher had given him a form for Hwa Chong Competition & we made a mistake by signing him up. The poor boy who had been getting A* for his Maths since P1, does not want to settle down with a certificate of attendance. Being a supportive mum, I just hope that the trainer could help my positive & willing to try hard boy. Tks.

I sent my son to Kovan Maths Hub for their holidays SMOPS training. We were very surprised that the trainer was very young & not very experienced. The front counter staff also did not give us proper direction & we could not find our way to the centre on the first day. We were told that lessons will be from 1.15 to 3.15pm upon signing up. To our surprise, the lessons have been change from 1 to 3pm from 3rd lesson onward, without informing & checking with us.
My boy was 20 mins late on the 1st & 3rd lesson & I was 20 mins late to pick up my boy on the 3rd lesson. According to my son, his school Maths Olympiad’s trainer, which is from Interactive Math, is more experienced & gives better explanation. According to his teacher, Maths Hub’s trainers are undergrads who only work on questions & do not teach concepts. I think it is very costly to pay $350 for 5 sessions of group coaching conducted by an undergrad. -

What about undergrad trainers? Would they be competent enough to take on math olympiad classes?
