Yes, my child and I do not mind outdoors and sweaty activities. We always think we are the rare species as most people that I know tend to like travelling to Japan, HK etc.

Thanks for the recommendation, but don’t feel safe on a cab for just 2 of us to a foreign country… My boy only 7, so can’t even protect me 😉

          super_dad:
This is one activity that will be an eye opener for city kids. There, they will experience simple and basic living conditions, get close to nature and have a good time making a nuisance of themselves. I have seen dolphins, leatherback turtles, as well as all kinds of fishes.

The best kelong visit is at Sibu Kelongs. There are 4 there, all having more or less the same thing. 2D/1N is at $69 per pax. Children is $38 per head. Food all provided. Ample fresh water and bathing/toilet facilities.
Bookings can be done anytime, as long as there is space on the kelong. It usually is, unless there is a holiday. You can usually call the day before, and someone will pick you up at the Jetty. The numbers are

          Kelong Hotboys +6019 7453019
          Ah Ngan Kelong +6019 7712879
          Ah Yew kelong +6013 7212332
          Ah Fatt kelong +6019 7120333

Easy to drive there, and safe parking. The boarding point is Tanjong Leman Jetty. The normal timings are to get to the Jetty (somehow) at 9-9.30am. Boat will pick you and bring you over the kelong. The boat trip is a 30 mins ride. The next day, you will return to the Jetty after final lunch at the Kelong at around 12-1pm. From there, the drive back to Singapore is about 2-3 hours.

Therefore, a very doable activity over the weekend. Go Sat and be back Sun 4-5pm for resting till work and school the next day.

One of them has a website. (the more commercialised one)
          check it out.

          Hi Superdad,

I remembered reading about it here and would love to join you for a kelong trip this coming hols! Any plan to organise one?

Incidentally, I am also following up to get a community club to organise a one-day tour to Malaysia which includes : Visit Fruit Farm, petting zoo, herbal/veg garden, 1 lunch, 1 dinner plus Fireflies excursion. Originally, just me and another family (11pax) were enquiring from the agency - they quoted us $68 per pax. Then later, my friend has more parents interested. So hopefully can reach 44pax to get to charter a coach instead. Thought I just post here in case anyone is interested to join us.

Hi (to those who wants more info about the 1 day tour ..)

                More details about the above.
It's offered by Farmosa Holiday Tours (tel : 65341133). 1 Day Tour Sin/Pengarang/Sin with Seafood lunch / Dinner.
There are several dates to choose from : 22 Nov, 29 Nov, 6 Dec, 7 Dec,
                13 Dec, 20 Dec, 24 Dec and 27 Dec. Adult : $63, Child $60
                * Surcharge of $5 per pax for dates on 6 Dec, 7 Dec and 24 Dec.

Itinerary include visit to 100 acres of tropical Fruit Farm at Pengarang.
Visit to the goats barn, the petting zoo ~ Ostrick, Rabbit, Snake etc.
Visit the Herbal & Vegetable Garden.
Include Seafood lunch with Baby lobsters.
Proceed to Desaru, Kota Tinggi for dinner.
                Fireflies excursion by boat.
                Homebound journey back to Singapore.

The possibility of the community club to organise for 44 pax didn't pan out
so will have to register on our own. Anyway, it's 10 pax + 1 Free.
My friends side already has 12 pax + 1 kid's pax free. She can only make it on 7 Dec (with the surcharge). My family of 2A + 1 Kid is still not decided on the date leh ... Anyone who's keen are welcome to join us 🙂

btw, if anyone has been to the above or similar, kindly advise/comment 🙂

mum2one…thanks for the email. We discuss here in the forum first.

Good Friday is a possible period. However, it is usually bery packed during holidays. But nevertheless, if it is convenient to everyone, we shall have one.

Can I put the names here? do indicate if you have transport, and how many pax coming. (adult, child). Those no transport, can see if can tongpang someone else ride.

                        Just for your info.

Trip to Sibu is RM150 (Adult) RM95 child (roughly…prices change like stock market).

We will go 2D 1N. Go Friday early morning and back Sat afternoon around 5pm.

For holiday period, I will probably need to confirm 1 week before actual date.

Fishing rods can be rented there. There are other activities to do if you are not into fishing, like getting thrown into the water etc…
