I leave it to my tutor. They are the experts. They provide good notes and excellent practice Qs. In fact so close to my girls’ papers…

          DO MINDMAPS!

I think its a very effective way to learn science.
I see great results when I teach my students to use mindmaps for science.
I am a tutor, btw. Hehe.

Hi, I need help in this chemistry question.

Lithium reacts with water to form lithium hydroxide and hydrogen. 28g of lithium is added to 100g of water. What is the total mass of the solution obtained when the reaction is completed?

I know the lithium is the limiting reactant, why can’t i calculate the mass base on just the lithium hydroxide?

              TIA.

If lithium is the limiting reagent then the water is in excess. Since they are asking for the mass of the solution left behind, you need to include the mass of both the lithium hydroxide AND the mass of the water left behind after the reaction.

                Hope this helps. 😄

                  Hi Dr Daniel,

Could you kindly help my son with the following question:

                  http://i42.tinypic.com/xn7sc7.jpg\">

Do you by chance also know of any way to remember the components of crude oil and the solubility table?

                  Thank you!

Sulfuric acid is H2SO4 and ammonia is NH3 (note the numbers are in subscript)
